Nervous baby CNA - advice needed!
Hi! I’m a new CNA, I just got my certification last month and last week I started at an assisted living facility working 6p-6a. It’s been going good so far, I really love my residents and my night shift coworkers. I’ve done 3 out of my 5 training shifts, so I have two more before I’m on my own. Here are the things I don’t feel so confident about:
Lifting people (when helping them with toileting, helping them from their chairs to their bed, etc) I wish I felt more confident with this!!! Some of the lighter people I have it down, but with some of our heavier residents I don’t know how the CNAs are able to lift them alone and sometimes I don’t even know where to start or how to approach it if that makes sense. But I don’t want to have to be calling for help to lift people all the time.
Getting into a routine/remembering which people need to be checked more during the night and gotten up in the morning, etc. I know this is something that will likely get better with repetition and memorization, but does anyone have any tips with this?
Thank you!!
