Overeating once a week stopped me from making progress.

I have been trying to lose weight for a year now, I lost 40 pounds in the first three months, then I lost another 10 pounds after. I reached a plateau for almost half a year now, I go to gym five days a week. Only have two meals a day, clean meal, little fat, low carb, high protein.
But every week or two, I can’t help myself to overeat a bit, maybe I stop at a McDonald’s, or worse, I go to a buffet with my friends. Eating 2000-3000 calories or more in a single meal.
Having huge meals is clearly stopping me from making progress. I can resist the craving, but not for long, I can make myself stay away from those for a week or two, but that’s it.
I tried to eat less everyday, but that raises my cortisol and makes me unable to concentrate on my work. Making recovery from gym longer, as I am still trying to get better at lifting and build some muscle while I lose weight. (Recomposition)
I need some advice from someone who had similar experiences, thank you very much.
