Lost luggage on RV train
Hello all!
I am a student who came here on a trip with a few friends. I apologize if this post does not completely correspond to with the rules of this subbreddit, I don't really know where else I can write it.
On the 16th of August I forgot my luggage on RV 3365 train, traveling from Ventimiglia (~9:57) with the final destination Genova Brignole (~12:25). We got off at Albenga, which is a station somewhere in the middle, at around 11:00, and only realized I forgot my luggage at around 12:00. My friend went that same day to Genova Brignole, at around 13:30 to see if it was found there or at any stations before it, but didn't have any luck. It has to be said that there wasn't a lot of personnel there, probably because it was Sunday.
We have filed a lost property police report and created an alert on the FindMyLost platform, however no matches were found yet.
In the last few days I have tried calling about every customer service number I could find, but I either got redirected, given generic information or was told that it's not their department.
My only hope that it was not stolen, and maybe found by the train cleaners or something, and then logged somewhere, is that I've left the luggage under the seats, so it wasn't that visible, and that when we got off, there were at most 5 other people in our carriage, and I don't think they had a direct view of the luggage.
If any of you had similar experiences, could you tell me if I should wait more for it to maybe turn up in a municipal collection point or to match the description of the police report and for me to get notified? I am wholly prepared to go back to every station from Albenga to Brignole and ask about it if it would do me any good.
The luggage contained stuff with a lot of sentimental value, jewelry and clothes, no electronics to track, and thankfully no id or credit cards.
Any advice is very much appreciated!
Also, don't know if it's that relevant, but a local told me that maybe some cleaners don't report found luggage due to fear of people saying that there was more in there, like cash or valuable stuff, to try to get more out of the rail company, and maybe causing said cleaners to lose their jobs. As such, it may have been thrown in the garbage, out of sight out of mind. But I don't know how certain that is.
