Why is Gemini misleading people?

I love AI. I work with AI a lot, nearly from the beginning of the AI era. But I still don't understand why Google added Gemini inside its search engine. I'm an old-school person. If I need information, I go to Google. I rarely ask ChatGPT for information, but I've found that Google Gemini often makes misleading claims about things that aren't true.

One time, I needed information about my laptop. I searched Google and immediately got an answer from Gemini, which I knew was not true. I explained everything, and again I got, "Sorry, I was wrong." In the past few weeks, I've encountered misinformation like this four times, and then I started to think about how much damage it could be causing around the world, as not all people ask, "Is this true?"

So my question is: how is this possible when a company literally has an unlimited budget? Can't Gemini check website sources first before giving an answer? I think this is a big problem, and I wanted to know what other people think about all this.

This is genuine curiosity, not a complaint. I love Google and its products.
