Not hungry ; father post whipple

Hi all , my father is almost 2 months post Whipple but still not eating much. He maybe eats like 500 calories a day if that which is so low. He did have his whole pancreas , spleen and gallbladder removed. We have tried everything and tried to give him what he wants. Was anyone put on any hunger stimulator ? Or tried to anything to help. He’s lost about 40 in less than 2 months. Just seeking advice to see what helped you or your love one who’s in recovery or when through recovery. Thank you much!

Sugar lows after whipple

My dad under-go the Whipple surgery + full pancreas removal. He has to be on insulin for life of course but we have noticed lows only at night. Was advised by his endocrinologist to lower long lasting insulin but it still seems like a problem. Has anyone had this problem before?

Hi all ,

My father ended up getting Ascites after whipple. Is this something normal? Will it eventually get better ? Asked his doctor and all she says yes but did anyone get an answer on why this happens? Should I be worried? My dad is 3 weeks post whipple + full pancreas taken out. He did have to get a drain in.

Diarrhea after whipple

My father is 3 weeks post Whipple. Diarrhea is one of the things he’s been dealing with the most , no matter what he eats it seems like he just goes. Did anyone have this problem ? Is there something that was given that helped? I know the doctor said this is normal due to the reconstruction and everything but I just feel like this is a never ending situation.

Post -whipple questions

Hi all ,
My father is 12 days post whipple + total pancreatectomy + splenectomy. My father just doesn’t seem like himself. He’s barely eating and sleeping all day , we have to force him out of bed and doesn’t seem interested in anything , I understand that this was something to be expected but he was doing fine the first few days and now it’s like he took a step back. He was re-admitted just because his sugars were not be able to be controlled at home. Did anyone experience this or had someone go through this? Feel like sometimes we can’t ask the doctor because all they say is it’s normal but when does someone start feeling normal again?
