Running PB

Tonight I set out to beat my post-mounjaro 5k PB.

I only went and beat my 5k PB from my early 30s (I'm 46) when I was doing triathlons. It's not fast by runners' standards but it's fast to me.

I wish I could go back in time and tell the me who tentatively started mounjaro in December 2025 just what she was about to unleash for herself. I don't think she'd have dared to believe that this was even possible.

Feeling quite emotional and so grateful to Mounjaro and to the much bigger version of me who ran while fat (because that was way fucking harder than what I just did, and one reason I can run well now), and who decided to give Mounjaro a try.

Another non scale non victory for me

I bought a lovely hoodie to commemorate my first 10k back to running in May.

Of course I haven't worn it because it's been warm but it fit very nicely then one time I wore it.

Now... I have a commemorative 10k tent.

I'm grateful, truly... but I loved the hoodie 🙈😭😆

Fascinating research on why some are super responders

I thought other people might be interested in this. Research basically showing that a subset of people have fast gastric emptying and lower glp1 production after eating ... and if so... they tend to respond much more strongly than average to glp1 medication.

So familiar to me ... I used to be hungry quickly after meals and responded very strongly to Mounjaro (about 28% my starting weight and I'm 7 months in).

Fascinating to see our understanding of biological factors in weight and hopefully we can start to get more tailored medications for people with different biological factors.

An unexpected problem - clothes shop won't stock my size if I go lower 😱

I just ordered some new clothes and now appear to be a size 10 in a lot of shops I buy from. Like wtf.m - I'm still technically overweight.

Anyway, as I'm still losing weight steadily I don't think this is going to be my final size but my number 1 go to for practical every day clothes (Roman) only goes down to size 10.

It made me wonder whether other people have run into this - finding that your long-time favourite brands suddenly don’t cater to your size anymore. Did you end up finding new favourites? I am absolutely bewildered trying to buy new clothes at the moment, not knowing what suits or what fits or what sizes to try.

I've also just emailed Roman customer services.asking for smaller sizes if anyone else wants to apply a little Mounjaro market pressure 🤣

Non scale non victories

Does anything about being on Mounjaro ever annoy you?

Today I bought a box of mini magnums thinking I fancied something.

I've had dinner and guess what.... I really don't fancy the mini magnum!

I'm going for a run once the weather cools down so hoping I fancy one later before they're scoffed by everyone else in the family! 🙈

So hit me up with your non scale, non victories!

Skin changes - what do you use?

Hi,

I've noticed some of my skin is starting to look a bit crepe-y, especially around the neck and the arms.

I'm aware I'm 46 and can't expect to have skin as smooth as a baby's bum and that skin often improves once weight has had a chance to settle but I'm still losing weight and hope to lose another 10kg, or maybe even a little more.

I don't want do anything drastic or expensive at this stage. Any suggestions or products or services you've found helpful? I've obviously searched enough that I'm now getting targeted ads for dermatica 🤣.

What worked for you?

Grateful for any advice or suggestions 😊

NSV - race day 😊

I'm racing a 10k tomorrow. It's my second since starting mounjaro but my kid's morning activities were cancelled so my partner is going to take her to the race to spectate. I'm just so happy I get to race again and my daughter gets to watch. She spent the evening making a sign to support the runners 🥰.

Now to cope with the heat and a great big hill at the start 🥵

Sports day tomorrow - send solidarity

It's my kid's sports day tomorrow. I haven't actually seen most of the parents from school since I started Mounjaro just before Christmas.

I've lost almost a quarter of my body weight since then and look noticeably different and my kid has told me that as I now run several times a week; she expects me to enter the parents' race.

It feels so exposing 🙈

I have no shame about using mounjaro and if anyone asks I will say how fabulous I think it is, but bracing myself for the inevitable comments (or side eyes).

Also, for context before I got very overweight, I ran half marathons and triathlons and I have a very good sprint in my legs ... arguably stronger for having been very overweight as I have been lugging around an extra 25 kilos every day (and I ran when I was obese)... so now, genuinely, I'm not looking forward to the attention suddenly running the parents' race like someone who knows how to run well will bring 🙈.

It's not a problem, just wanted a vent amongst people who are more likely to understand than most!

Surprise NSV

So my partner just told me ... just by the way, I don't remember the last time I heard you snore.

I've snored since I was a child!

So incredibly grateful to Mounjaro! 🙌

Pharmulous vs Swift doctor - any preferences

I'm currently with Asda who have very vague policies on maintenance so I want to move to Pharmulous or Swift Doctor.

Does anyone have a preference between the two? Do you tend to get monthly discounts or is the website price the price you pay?

Any other pros and cons of one versus the other? I have no preferences or health conditions but intend to stay on Mounjaro for the very long haul so I want a prescriber I can rely on.

New clothes!

I was a size 18 when I started Mounjaro just under 6 months ago. With the hot weather I decided to go try on some shorts in Sainsbury's. My 9 year old daughter was with me... tried on a size 14 and she says very loudly, "Mum, those are too big, do you want your shorts to fall down?!"

Tried on a 12 and fitted perfectly. Unbelievable. I haven't been in a size 12 since well before I was pregnant with her.

I've only bought 2 pairs and I'm wondering how long they're going to last! I really need to figure out what size I am so I can make use of vinted!

Hope we are all enjoying summer shopping 😊

Biggest Mounjaro change - the end of fat shame

I have noticed a few posts recently from people feeling ashamed about starting mounjaro so I thought I'd share this.

I held back starting Mounjaro thinking that I should be able to lose the weight myself with effort and discipline.

And I could do it... I could lose a stone, maybe a stone and a half ... and then I'd get a cold or life would get stressful, or I'd go on holiday and come back with jet lag and slowly but surely, I couldn't keep it up.

And on and on it went. Rinse and repeat.

I knew the research that said diets generally fail, bodies fight back when we lose weight, make us hungrier than ever and harder to maintain a lower calorie deficit. I'd get tired and fatigued and exercise felt hard. But somehow I thought I just needed to be more consistent.

And then one day after months of debating it with myself, I said... ok... enough. Let's try Mounjaro.

Within 24 hours I was full after normal sized meals and I stayed full. I spent about a month telling my naturally slim partner in utter amazement things like, "I'm not hungry", "I don't fancy crisps", "I'm not that interested in chocolate". I took two squares of chocolate to eat while watching tv one evening congratulating myself on my modest portion. The next day I found one of those squares between the cushions. I'd forgotten about it.

I started enjoying exercise again and got into lifting weights and running and I see steady improvement month on month.

When I look back on myself when I was really very overweight, I can only admire her grit and determination and how hard she tried with both diet and exercise. And now, living with appetite regulation as a result of mounjaro I see how utterly impossible the task was she was trying to do.

I've dropped a lot of weight and I feel physically and mentally better than I have in years. I didn't even realise how bad I felt before.

I am lucky as I responded strongly to Mounjaro and my side effects have been minor and manageable so far. I appreciate not everyone gets the results I have and some just don't respond or have serious side effects. If that's you - no shame as it is definitely not your fault.

We live with a chronic condition and taking Mounjaro is treating it. It isn't treating our lack of willpower or discipline issues or greed. It's treating out of control metabolic issues and relentless hunger.

For me Mounjaro is relief and freedom and if you're just starting your journey or thinking about it and held back by some utterly bonkers idea that you should be the unicorn who can lose weight and keep it off without medical treatment... let it go.

We all deserve good care and that includes access to GLP-1 medicines. I really wish they were more affordable and accessible to everyone. If you're able to and choosing to invest in taking Mounjaro (or wegovy or bariatric surgery), it's not failure or defeat, it's an act of great care and kindness towards yourself. Whatever you decide and whatever happens I hope you see yourself with love and respect whatever the number on the scale.

Been teetering towards being overweight but not obese for a few weeks... finally there!

Of course, the scales will probably mess with me and go up for a few days just to annoy me!

Hope everyone else is doing well ❤️💉🏋️
