Can the commercial plane takeoff without knowing weight ?

I’m currently on AC855, LHR —> YYZ

I felt like the takeoff was a bit difficult as in going lift off and the turns on low altitude made me anxious? I heard the engine maybe get louder to give more lift which is what is supposed to happen i assume but I’m not sure… now we’re 36,000 ft up in the air and I’m wondering if the weight can bring us down somehow lol

Did anyone’s flight anxiety turn into also anxiety in other things in life?

Hey everyone!

I was thinking about how a few years ago my anxiety and panic started on a flight for the first time probably from built up stress from school and overwhelmed over finding a job during university.

Now here I am a few years later and I’ve been good when my anxiety was only flight related but now I feel like it’s over health, feeling off and stuff but I do feel heavily it’s rooted from the flight anxiety… does anyone else relate or care to share if that makes sense?

I (26M) had BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) for 3 days and it went away with maneuver.

Hey guys I hope all is well,

I am not asking for medical advice.

Let me start by saying a few weeks ago I read about something online that said they had a headache and turned out they had a minor aneurysm.

I then realized the next few days I had a dull headache on the right side of my head that doesn’t feel painful but it feels sort of dull and like squeezing. I kept trying to get it to go away and it wouldn’t. I let it slide for a couple weeks and I don’t remember noticing it fully going away.

I then sleep and wake up and I remember the whole room spinning and I couldn’t get up! I also told myself maybe that’s from bad sleep position. But then the day went on and I realized it kept happening in certain positions. (Right side of my head, where the dull headache is!”

I was very stressed and wasn’t even eating much as I was nervous to what this maybe? I went to a walk in clinic the next day and he did a diagnostic test and confirmed that it’s very most likely BPPV and so we did a maneuver that didn’t work on the first day but it did on the 2nd time of trying, Since I woke up day 3 and I didn’t feel dizzy when I’d move my head as much at all I was like that’s awesome!

A few days have passed later and I still feel that dull pressuring headache ish? And I’m always worried that, that BPPV will come back again because I have the same headache and also I still feel like semi hyper fixated on my right side of the head getting better.

Could this be anything more serious or is it just my stress/anxiety playing a huge role? Are they correlated by any chance? This was very random for me

P.S: I did not have any unusual symptoms but I’m worried I get them later somehow from something I’m not sure of!

I did 2 takeoffs in 2 hours because of a refuel procedure. Now in the air again

Was wondering especially that the fleet I’m on is Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The company just upgraded them from the previous 787-8? I think? Would there be risk of any issues or failures. I mean the obvious answer is probably not but I guess that’s an anxious thought I had if the plane breaks down because it just got upgraded lol

Boarding in a few mins RJ272

Hey I’ve been really anxious the last few weeks before flight especially last night but right now, I went to the airport alone and I’m waiting at the gate to board. I’m also business class I put a small bid and I got lucky! I’m trying to use this as an advantage to get over the fear hopefully (not the most financially wise decision I made tbh LOL)

My heart feels heavy and I feel dizzy AND DONT KNOW how I’ll be on takeoff but pls someone track?

Update #1: I boarded and I’m trying to settle in, enjoying the business class seat since I’ve never beeen, still a bit nervous about the actual flight but we’ll see what happens!

Update #2: I AM IN THE AIR AS SOON AS THE PLANE WAS SPEEDING ON THE RUNWAY MY ANXIETY BECAME EXCITEMENT IM SO HAPPY AND EXCITED FOR MY LONG FLIGHT

Flight tomorrow noon and I’m so anxious and nauseous I can’t even think straight

I’m out of words, I’m sleeping at an airport hotel currently looking at planes take off and I can’t fathom being on a 13 hour flight tomorrow like it’s making me feel like I’m going insane and can’t handle the flight tomorrow. The going to the airport. The boarding. The seating. The anticipation while taxiing, the takeoff and climb. I DONT KNOW how I did this over 50+ times without fear before!!

Idk what to do does anyone have any words or support ? Or something please

Question for pilots or flight attendants

Is the plane way safer than we think and also like landings and takeoffs are way more complex and safe than we think as passengers? I start panicking when we are taxing and taking off the most and also landing.

I’m worried I die somehow from this 😭😭😭 I’m too stressed I just want a way to know everything is fine somehow even though uncertainty is human nature

Flight in 2 days and I can’t eat or sleep comfortably

Hey everyone, I have a long flight of 13 hours in 2 days from Toronto to Amman.

I unfortunately have been anxious over this for the last 1-2 months but lingering and now it’s more intense than ever and the worst part is I had positional vertigo come out of nowhere to me 3 days ago and I did a maneuver and it’s gone but I still have a dull headache right side of my head which is making me stressed what if it gets worse on the plane and I die?? What if my anxiety and panic turns it to something dangerous?? I don’t know…

I really have to board and go away to see my family I haven’t seen them in years and I’m so lonely and anxious and depressed far away from them…

I just haven’t even had appetite for a few days and been nauseous and so light and I don’t know why I’m this way over a stinking flight

Please let me know what to do if you have advice or relate

3 days until my 13 hour flight and I feel like I can’t breath

I don’t know what to do. My family is expecting me overseas in Jordan and I’m so nauseous and aren’t eating as much, just anxious thinking about if I’m gonna be okay. I think I can understand the plane is fine? But I can’t fathom how I’ll react with the movements and being up in the air alone with no escape and thinking I might die or pass out from anxiety or worry.

I dont know if I’m gonna make it. I never stepped away from a flight before and I’m not trying to but the way anxiety is way too stressful!

P.S: I’m not really trying to take meds I’m trying to naturally overcome this and teach my brain I’m going to be okay (no issue with people who do so at all)

Does anyone have/had my specific fears? If so how did you overcome or deal with them?

I have a 12:30 hour flight coming next week from Toronto->Montreal->Amman (1 stop in Montreal). And I have high anxiety towards flying.

I can’t catch my breath properly when I sit and buckle. My peak anxiety starts when they close the door and the plane starts taxing and it stays especially right before takeoff as there’s no going back. I’m afraid I make a scene even though I never have but I’ve been super anxious in life lately.

When I’m in the air I’m generally okay or better just because it’s steady… I have developed a bit of turbulence fear because I see it can be severe sometimes or stay for a bit? Even though I know it’s not dangerous but what if my mind plays tricks on me.

Also the landing the multiple sounds and sensitivity to movement all irks me because I’m not sure what’s going on! I try to trust but it’s my mind playing tricks on me and I really want to be able to move on from this and be my best. So any advice would help if anyone relates to these problems…

It’s mainly my anxiety I feel just being trapped in the air and if anything happens I’m not sure what’s to do.

I have a long haul flight next week and it’s been eating up my mind that I can’t stop being anxious and thinking about my flight and how bad I might react during it?

Hello everyone I am currently 26M and I used to fly all the time when I was younger and a teenager (at least 75+ flights) and a couple years ago I had a panic attack on the takeoff just it was night time and it was very loud and I think I was overstimulated and I felt my arms and legs get tingly and numb and heart racing but I stayed in my seat and I was okay after but still it was a shock. and on top of that I had to take 4 different flights during that vacation (all alone) and every flight felt like a new challenge since that episode, and it felt very dreading to a point where it kind of impacted my vacation since I would countdown every flight after that and be super nervous.

After I came back to my home country Canada, I decided I’m not gonna go on flights for a long time and I just realized like I had somewhat of an anxiety problem and I was fine with that until I had to travel to see my parents overseas because they live far away. I remember being a bit anxious before my flight, but I also was at peace and I ended up travelling with my brother and I don’t remember feeling too anxious or barely feeling anxious to that flight. I did feel at tensed up a bit for sure and nervous.

A year later, I travelled again with my younger brother and we went to England and I felt anxious, but I felt a bit ready, but it’s at the same time the anxiety never goes away before the flight when I’m in the air I feel it is a bit more manageable but the takeoff. I just can’t do anything about and on my way back I felt
Anxious about the landing because I felt really rough and in my head now like I’m anxious about takeoff and I’m anxious about like landing and it keeps adding more things to prevent me from flying.

Now I live alone with my brother left, and I have been living alone for the last year and I’ve been getting very anxious about things, especially that I have a flight in a week that I booked a couple months ago and ever since then I keep being anxious and stressed because I know the flight’s coming and I can’t do anything about it and I can’t properly do things without thinking about my flight.

I do not want to take medication. I do want to challenge this and get over this without having to go that far even though there is no problem in doing so I just know that there was a part of me before that used to take flights all the time and did not feel an ounce of anxiety and would actually get excited during takeoff.

My anxiety is more of what happens if something happens to me mid air or what if there is an emergency like I’m just in the middle of an open space in the air in a metal tube or what if I can’t handle the anxiety, what if like my heart explodes or my brain explodes I don’t even know if this makes sense.

I definitely feel like it comes from just not knowing what’s going on with the pilots and not being in control because I feel like I do have that tendency to know everything what’s going on in order to make sure everything’s OK.

My flight next week (RJ272) is going to be from Toronto to Montreal from Montreal to Amman so that’s gonna be a challenge for me to takeoff twice and land twice and I don’t know what to do and how to tackle this. Any support or advice would definitely be helpful here. I just want to open a discussion because I have no one to talk to about this and I feel very alone.

Also, just to keep in mind, my parents travel all the time in the Middle East and my brother and my sister. I’m the only one that rarely travels because I am so far away in Canada. For instance, my mother travelled at least 8 different times this year so far and my father has travelled similarly to her. My brother and Sister also travelled at least 10 different times. I travelled none and I hate that I try to reduce the amount of time. I travel because I want to see the world and I feel like this is holding me back mentally and like physically from my goals in life.

My goal is to explore the world and see the beautiful things that this earth has and be able to travel soon because I am also planning on getting married and we are travelling for that and I don’t not want to make it a bad thing and ruin our precious time together

Any advice would mean a lot to me literally, I am in the lowest of the low. Thank you!
