Moving to Aalborg in October – Looking for advice, networking, and any job leads (open to anything to start!)

Hi everyone,

I’m a 28-year-old from Italy, and i'm are officially relocating to Aalborg this coming October.

To give a bit of background: my main background is in humanities (a degree in Literature), and I am currently studying Computer Engineering, combined with experience in sales and communication.

I know that finding a job remotely from abroad is an uphill battle.

To get the ball rolling and handle the initial living costs, I am completely open to starting with any survival job—hospitality, waiting tables, warehouse work, or whatever is needed. I have a strong work ethic, I'm used to high-pace environments, and I speak fluent English.

I’m looking for advice from locals or expats in Aalborg on a few things:

Walk-ins for hospitality: For bars, restaurants, and cafés in Aalborg, is printing physical CVs and hitting the streets during off-peak hours still the best way to go?

Local agencies/platforms: Aside from Jobindex, what are the best local agencies or platforms in the North Jutland area specifically for quick-start work?

Networking: If anyone is in the Aalborg tech/sales scene or has general tips for a newcomer arriving in autumn, I’d love to buy you a coffee once I'm settled in town.

Any advice, reality checks, or pointing me in the right direction would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Moving from Italy to Denmark in Jan/Feb to work before starting a Master's. Need advice on CPR, jobs, and contracts!

Hi everyone,

My wife (23F) and I (28M) are planning to move from Italy to Denmark in early 2027 (January/February). We will be driving up with our electric car, aiming for Aarhus or Odense.

Our long-term plan is for me to study, but since the Master's programmes I am interested in only start in September (Fall intake), our strategy is to move early next year just to find a job for those first few months, get our documents sorted, and settle down before the university semester begins.

I have a few practical questions about this approach:

  1. I need to find a job for at least 10-12 hours a week to get my EU-worker registration. How realistic is it to find employment in Aarhus or Odense if I only speak English? Which city would you recommend for a better English-speaking job market?
  2. I know that to get a CPR number as a worker, I need a signed job contract first. Will employers in Denmark agree to sign a contract using just my Italian Electronic ID card (I don't have a passport) before I actually have a CPR number?
  3. Since we won't have a CPR number right away, how easy is it to find temporary accommodation or sub-lets in Aarhus or Odense for the first couple of months while we look for employment?

Any tips, experiences, or honest advice would be incredibly helpful for us to plan this transition. Thanks a lot!
