Spaniards or Europeans in Chicago? 🇪🇸🇪🇺

F31, professional, and excited but slightly nervous about the move!

I’m from Spain and will most likely be moving to Chicago next spring. I was wondering how other Spaniards/Europeans managed to make friends and build a social circle when they first moved here.
Any recommendations for meeting people, finding communities, or getting involved in activities? Also, were there any cultural shocks or things you wish you’d known before moving?

Visa Timeline for Spain (NOA1 in April)

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I (I’m from Spain) applied for the K-1 visa earlier this year and received our NOA1 in April.

Is anyone else from Spain currently going through the process? Or has anyone here recently completed it? If so, how long did it take from NOA1 to NOA2, and then to the interview?

Based on our attorney’s estimated timeline, we’re hoping to receive our NOA2 and have the interview around December, so I can move to the U.S. by March 2027 and we can get married then. However, I’ve been reading that processing times are getting longer, so I’m curious to hear about other people’s recent experiences. Are our expectations still realistic?

Thanks in advance!
