Hi everyone,

I have a question about the German language certification process.

If someone studies German on their own or through a language institute and reaches a genuine B2 level, is it possible to directly register for and take the B2 exam without first taking the A1 and A2 exams?

Or is it mandatory to pass A1, then A2, then B1 before you’re allowed to sit for the B2 exam?

I’m mainly asking about official exams such as Goethe, telc, or other widely recognized German language certificates.

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this or knows the official rules. Thanks!
