Gym rant

I joined a gym 4-5 months back. I do cardio like 2-3 days a week.

One of the cardio workout i do is i run for 20 mins. I always felt that for running I needed good songs that matches with my running tempo. I have shortlisted a few songs and made a playlist.

I tried with in ear, over the ear headphones, they always tend to fall when I run. Then I remembered that when joining gym the receptionist mentioned they have a very good sound system, youtube premium etc and we can play songs. So I started using the speakers and it was quite comfortable to run without any headset or earphone. I don't keep high volume.

I have seen people enjoy the music most of the times. Sometimes someone else plays their playlist and I enjoy their playlists too. This had been going smoothly.

Yest I was in the gym and two 50+ yrs old guys were there and only 3 of us were in the treadmill area. One guy enquired to the other guy if he was playing the song. That guy said no and they discussed loudly about the music taste and basic etiquette that no one should play music in loudspeaker in gym and only use headphones. I got offended as I was the only other guy who was in that area.

I neither turned off music nor had a word with them. I just completed my run and warm down with music on, which took another 20 mins.

if they didn't want music and if they had asked me to turn It off, I would have. But talking about etiquettes/ music taste was wrong.
