Good news I think??

3 months ago I posted on here about my work situation. I had a conversation with the principal. She had mentioned coming off substitute teacher aide onto probationary and moving me to a different classroom. A difficult classroom. I never heard anything after that conversation. 3 months later, on June 24th, I got an observation out of no where. Staff in my classroom said substitutes don't get observations. We were all confused about me having observation. Later that day, my friend texted me saying her mom got her letter of reasonable assurance in her mailbox at work and asked if I got one. I said I didn't check my mailbox. I work at the same school district and elementary school as my friend's mom. I went to work the next day and checked my mailbox. I had a letter of reasonable assurance. Took me good 6 minutes to realize the letter said letter of reasonable assurance for 10 month non substitute employees. I said wait I am not going to be substitute teacher's aide next school year. No communication whatsoever in my school district. This school district barely communicated to me about coming off substitute. I am very happy I get to come back in September.

I am a substitute aide. I was in a general education classroom for most of the school year, 7 months. I work every school day. The principal said (to me) "The director of pps is moving people off of substitute onto probationary. You will be in room 103. The teacher is no longer switching between classrooms anymore. A kid is leaving. You are good with the kids." Was the principal telling me I will be coming off substitute onto probationary or was the principal talking about someone else and that is why I am moving classrooms? I was told I had to wait until the new hire started to move classrooms. Staff in my new classroom asked when I was starting in their classroom. I said I had to wait until the new hire started before moving classrooms. This almost left the classroom without an aide for a few days. A few days after this conversation, I was told it's finalized you start on Monday. I switched classrooms a month ago. Weeks after I started in my new classroom the board approved the resignation of the previous aide in my new classroom. I thought a substitute aide can be moved wherever whenever? When we had this conversation, I automatically thought I was coming off substitute onto probationary. I am not sure anymore. I know I need to ask the principal or director of pps. I know the director of pps is hard to contact and doesn't answers emails.

I am a substitute aide. I was in a general education classroom for most of the school year. I was told I was moving to a new room, special education classroom. I had to wait until the new hire started before moving rooms. I thought a substitute aide can be moved wherever whenever. This almost left the room I was moving to without an aide for a few days. We didn't know the exact day the new hire started. Is it normal for a substitute aide to wait until a new hire starts before moving classrooms?

I am currently a substitute teacher aide. I have been working every school day this school year. A month ago, the principal asked to talk to me. She said "interim director of pupil personnel services was moving people off of substitute onto probationary. You will be in room 103. You are good with the kids." This conversation made me think I was coming off substitute and onto probationary. The day after this conversation, I was told I had to wait until the new hire started to switch rooms. This almost left room 103 without an aide for a few days. The principal didn't know what day the new aide was starting. Room 103 has 7 special education kids. They have behavior issues and some like to escape the classroom. The new hire was put in my old classroom. I took the vacant spot in room 103. I found out the new hire was originally a substitute aide. Is it okay for the principal to tell me someone else is coming off substitute and onto probationary? In my mind, I think it is kind of unprofessional. I think she shouldn't have mentioned coming off substitute and onto probationary if it wasn't about me. I haven't heard anything from anyone in my school district about me coming off substitute and onto probationary. I am kind of shocked they put the new hire in my old classroom and put me in room 103. The principal has always made sure that room has had enough staff. I have asked to help out in this room when the aide was out. This room has been a huge focus this school year. I know it takes awhile to switch positions and to heard back. I know the first board meeting this april, they approved the resignation of the aide that was in room 103. Does the school district have to wait until the board approves someone's registration for the spot to be vacant and can be filled? I have saw the interim director of pupil personnel services in my building a few times, I didn't had the time to talk to him about this. I have tried emailing him in the past about something else. He never emailed me back. Staff have said he doesn't answer emails. I have tried this past week to talk to the principal. She has been busy with state testing for 3-5 graders and meetings. I haven't been able to talk to her.

I have been a substitute teacher aide since September 2025. I was in a gened classroom 1 on 1 with a student until March 30th. I was working every school day with this student since September. Some days the principal and secretary would tell me "can you help out in ds1. The aide is out." Ds1 is a special education room. Its a self containment classroom with 7 kids. We have 3 ds rooms. Ds1, ds2 and ds3. I have been in ds1 room many times. We knew for weeks a new hire was coming. We thought the new hire was going into ds3. I knew around March 16th the aide in ds1 was leaving and her last day was on March 27th. On March 25th, the principal asks to talk to me. She pulls me out of the classroom. She says "Anthony (interim director of pupil personnel services) is moving people. Coming off substitute onto probationary. You will be in ds1. You are good with the kids." The next day I was told I had to wait until the new hire started before moving rooms. We knew the new hire was starting the week of April 1st. We didn't know the day. Staff in ds1 asked me if I start in their room on March 30th. I said I had to wait until the new hire started. That almost left ds1 without an aide for a few days. On March 27 when I was leaving the school, the principal said its finalized, you start on Monday. I originally thought she was talking about me coming off substitute onto probationary. I am starting to think she was talking about the new hire. He was taken off substitute and onto probationary. I have been waiting for over a month to hear about coming off substitute and onto probationary. I have heard nothing. I do know the board approved the resignation of the aide that was in ds1 on April 13th. Does the board have to approve a resignation of a position before you can fill the position with a permanent person? Post the position and start interviewing people for the position, paperwork etc? If I was truly not coming off substitute onto probationary why would the principal mention it to me? I believe it is not my business to know about someone else coming off substitute onto probationary. She should have worded the conversation differently. I have been thinking I was coming off substitute but now I am not sure. The student I used to work told me he has a new aide. He was happy/excited when he told me. Weeks later, he is saying 10 days until April is over and I see you. I had to ask him what he was talking about. He thinks when April is over I will come back to being his aide. I had to tell him I wasn't coming back and you have a new aide. I am going to talk to this student teacher about what he said to me. He is not understanding the situation. I am hoping his teacher can help him understand better.

I am currently a substitute teacher aide at my school district. I have been working everyday since the school year started as a substitute aide. I have been a substitute aide at the same building all year. Our special education rooms are called ds1, ds2 and ds3. These are self containment classrooms. I have been in a gened classroom 1 on 1 with a kid most of the school year. The principal and secretary often pulled me to help out in ds1 when the aide was out. About a month ago the principal asks to talk to me. She says "Anthony (he is interim director of pupil personnel services) is moving people. Coming off substitute onto probationary. You will be in ds1. You are good with the kids." After this conversation, I thought she meant I was coming off substitute onto probationary. When this conversation happened, some staff knew we were getting a new hire, an aide. We originally thought he was going into ds3 room. He took my place in the gened classroom and I got moved to ds1. It has been about a month since this conversation had happened and I haven't heard anything from the school district. I am starting to think like she was talking about the new hire coming of substitute onto probationary. I originally thought she was telling me I was coming off substitute onto probationary. Now I am not sure what is going on.

update: I would like to add on, the principal told me I couldn't switch rooms until the new hire started. The aide in ds1 last day of working in the district was on March 27th. We knew the new hire was coming the week of April 1st. didn't know the exact day. On March 27th when I was getting ready to go home, the principal told me it has been finalized. You start on Monday. March 30th.
