My brothers plants keep dying
Hi friends,
My brother recently got into fish keeping in the past year after he decided to use my old tank for some shrimp, he fell in love with it and as you can tell put a lot of time and energy into this new tank. I’ve been helping him but have been away for a few months and he’s asked me to help the tank out.
Problem is the plants aren’t looking too healthy, off the bat I’ll be giving a good 50% water change since it’s a bit mucky, all the fish have just been fed which is why everyone’s out (it’s a little overstocked since for some reason the petshop gave him like 5 extra fish after he bought just enough to fill the tank comfortably after wanting to add some more schooling fish)
The tank is about 2 months ish old and already cycled water had been put to about 40%, the is another air pump behind the plants on the left that isn’t too visible, all his parameters are fine, he adds a couple pumps of plant food each water change.
My guess is he’s overfeeding,his tanks a bit overstocked and that muck is preventing the plants from getting good sunlight but any advice would be greatly appreciated, he doesn’t often have hobby’s and I know this one has been great for him, I’d hate for the problem to persist and for him to become dissatisfied
