[Google] Passed L3 SWE Onsite, in Team Matching as of this week. Realistic chances & tips to speed it up? (Any HM referrals?)

Hi everyone,

I recently finished my interview loop for an L3 SWE role at Google and got the good news this Tuesday that I’ve passed the technical bar and am officially in the Team Matching phase!

Here was my loop for context:

  • OA: 1 round
  • Virtual: 1 Technical + 1 Behavioral (Googlyness)
  • Onsite (Mountain View): 2 Technical rounds

I’m incredibly excited to have made it this far, but I’ve been reading some horror stories on this sub about people being stuck in team matching for months. I'd love to get some current insights from the community:

  1. Realistically, what are the chances of getting an offer once in the L3 team matching phase right now? (I know headcount can be tight for early-career roles).
  2. What can I do proactively to speed up the process? Should I be reaching out to managers directly on LinkedIn? Are there specific orgs I should ask my recruiter to target?
  3. Tips from current Googlers: How can I make my profile stand out to HMs when they are reviewing my packet?
  4. Referrals / Team Matching: If any Googlers or HMs here have open L3 headcount on their teams, I would love to connect! I recently finished my MS in CS and have a strong background in AI/ML (specifically LLMs), cloud computing, and backend infrastructure. I am a generalist at heart and am happy to adapt to whatever stack the team uses.

Any advice or brutal honesty about the current timeline is appreciated. Thanks!
