Just played Quake 3 Bloodrun MOD - best thing ever since QC!!!

This is what QC should have been imo.

Also type in console \champion slash and you will get slash (as far as I understand it is still in development).

Hoping they will polish more this mod, with better menus, skins, server browser (something like QC:DoomEdition)

Go check it out.

The ultimate writing suite - Word-Smith 1.3.5 is out with many improvements

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I've just wanted to make a bigger showcase of this. Grab your popcorn!

Word-Smith 1.3.5 is out! - the ultimate distraction-free writing environment for Obsidian.

----------------------------

What you get?

- Writing Modes (Zen, Typewriter, Hemingway, LetterBox)

- Syntax and Prose Checks (all based on regex and rules --- fully local)

- Ultra customizable Powerlines ({tokens}, various edges, gradients {g}, {s} spacers, smart modifiers like :bc - is the color of your cursor)

- Many colorschemes/themes with dark-light counterparts ( simplified themes, checkbox styling, colored headings, etc.)

- Quick cycle keyboard directional jumps through opened notes and sidebars

- Writing Report with many cool animations

- Writing History - it tracks how many words you added and deleted and it gives you some cool stats ( Everything is stored in a md file (ws-history.md) in your own vault)

- Typography and text options (paragraph indent, curly quotes, fonts, justify text, paddings, hidden markers, etc.)

- Vim support (softwrapping), {vim} token for powerline

- It also pairs perfectly with Cursor-Smith ( https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/cursor-smith )

----------------------------

To control this plugin you can either use:

- Docked Pane (drag it, arrange it in any sidebar you want)

- the Modal Menu or use (add a hotkey to it for fast control) ---oh and you can insert ANY Obsidian Command to it, including other Plugins' commmands (I use Harper btw for grammar checks)

- the Powerline with {tokens}

- OR use all three of them!

----------------------------

Anyways, if you have a question or a cool idea or found a bug you can write it here or on github! Cheers!

Here are the links:

https://github.com/Sadsnake1/word-smith

https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/word-smith

------------

update 1.3.8 ----- will have a Exporting/Compile Options with manuscript formatting, and all that.

------ 1.3.8 is Live with exporting and maaany bug fixes

also if the plugin does not work or freezes it probably means you have an old obsidian installer version. To fix this uninstall obsidian and install the new version from their website.

Word-Smith 1.2.7 now has THEMES!

Word-Smith 1.2.7 is out and now it has THEMES (more like colorschemes :P )!

You can make a list of those, delete themes you don't use, reoder them and so on.

You can fast toggle them with the new **Word-Smith: Menu** command (find it in command palette). A modal popup appears where you can pick and choose what Word-Smith feature you want.

Also added many sub-options for Themes (simple interface, no workspace borders, color cursor based off themes, vim colors, and more). Also added a powerline token {themes}.

Themes and the new Modal Menu are new features, so if you encounter any bugs or request a features write it down here or on github!

https://github.com/Sadsnake1/word-smith

Here is a list with the themes(every theme has a light/dark twin):

update 1.2.8: improved themes + added few more

u/No_Ratio_2483 — 10 days ago

Added quick cycle in Word-Smith 1.2.3 - now you can jump directionally with keyboard-only into notes and sidebars + much more

I don't know why it looks so slow and glitchy in the video (it's fast IRL). :(

Anyways, no you can jump keyboard only between opened notes and sidebars directionally (quickly in and out of everything) ---> Just Toggle the options in the MISC Tab and bind your directions. I have ALT + ARROW KEYS , or for vim user ALT + HJKL.

If you encounter any bugs or have an idea please write it here or on github!

Idea: Open settings window in a new tab

I like the new settings window. But it feels out of place. Opening the settings in a new tab will keep everything tidy, you won't need to fight-drag it from it's current position and so on.

Word-Smith 1.1.3 has a customizable POWERLINE now + much much more!

Hellooooooooooooooooooo!

Just made the RETROBAR even better! I've added into it the visual powaaah of POWERLINES! Now it has become the most powerful status line engine that ever was(maybe).

Now you can customize it fully, using {tokens}, edge separators like < / ~ (, so you can make it in any way you choose. You also have Presets with codes, exactly like in Cursor-Smith!

I've also added many-many-manyyyy new things for writers, including:

  • Prose Checks for Filler Words, Passive voice, Lexical Illusion, Flesch-Kincaid readability grade, Repetition radar and more;
  • Better more simple Writing Goals (set them in the settings);
  • new BIG sharable animated Writing Report;
  • Vim support so you can j,k on wrapped lines! Plus End of Buffer "~" marks :)
  • Typography options;
  • and more, much-much more.

For more info on Word-Smith read the README on github: https://github.com/Sadsnake1/word-smith

Have fun! Share you RetroBar presets, and also, if you have bugs or have an idea for this plugin write it here or on github! Also, if you want to buy me a coffe or donate to this ongoing project, I won't say no! :)

Made huuuuge update to Word-Smith 1.0.8 - the ultimate distraction-free writing suite

Hellooooooooooo!

Made a huge, not huge, HUMONGOUS upgrade to the ULTIMATE WRITING SUITE (maybe) named Word-Smith (ver. 1.0.8).

Now it has MODES: Zen, Typewriter, Hemingway and moooore. Each one fully customizable.

Now it has text options, better indentations, typography options like curly quotes and syntax color highlights so you can see those pesky adverbs ( who knows knows).

Now it has a smarter, more capable status bar named RetroBar - customize it to the brim with many tokens, maaany {tokens}. And moooore, much mooore. You know me xP.

It also pairs well with my other baby - Cursor-Smith.

Anyways, just think of a modern cool writing app; now delete that memory and replace it with Word-Smith and you now have the most powerful notetaking app with the POWAH! of the most advanced Writing Suite there is. (maybe... lol, and yes, I used a semicolon in an actual phrase).

Try it out good people and please give me more ideas and feedback here on reddit or on github. I want to make this super polished and a must have for writers.

https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/word-smith

For more info on how to use it to the fullest read the README.

https://github.com/sadsnake1/word-smith

------

Also, regarding the syntax highlighter:

It's fully local, meaning no API, no network, no telemetry. Nothing leaves your vault. I wouldn't make it otherwise.

It uses a speech tagger. In the main.js there are about 800 most common english words + some set of regex rules(adverbs end in ly, verbs in ize, and so on) and more context rules such as "the meeting" (When "the" appears then it must be a noun). The rules are not perfect but it gets to 90-95% accuracy on most use cases. It's not a grammar checker by anymeans, it's an aiding tool for writers.

update: will SOON add:

- another token {fonts} that you can add in the retrobar (a popup will appear and you can quickly change your font). also will be avaible for frontmatter.

- file and folder goals tokens + report button with readability test

- some "write better" checks

- more ui improvements

[Bug] The caret does not snaps where it should on wrapped lines.

It's not a big issue, but certainly an annoying one.

Cursor-Smith just passed 2k downloads and 1.3.0 is out with a mega update!

Hellooooooooooooooooo!

Cursor-Smith 1.3.0 is out with a MEGA UPDATE!

- presets + code sharing/saving your custom cursors

- vim support (per mode customization)

- improved rendering optimization

- new flashy animations

- new sub-options including secret combinations :p

I'll let you find out more by trying it! Have fun!

https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/cursor-smith

https://github.com/sadsnake1/cursor-smith

If you have new ideas or found an issue, write it here or on github and I will try my best to improve this plugin

update 1: next update will be TODAY and shall have:

- smaller sharing codes X_x

- more customization for pixel trails( and when I say more is kinda like moooooooreeeee pawaaah!)

- better tapered tail for smear cursor ( its meh when typing with it)

- neon tail for CRT effects

- more secret combos ( some options will pop up if some effects work togheter in a completely new way)

- some of my newer Presets baked in ( Sakura, GalaxyBabe, Galactuuus, JonSnoo, WhimsyBoi, Writer'sChoice, and i'll add a couple for VIM too) don't forget that you can always delete them or modify them by overwriting. Load a preset, modify it, save it with the same name). Also if things gets too nasty, just uninstall the whole plugin and reinstalling it should bring back the default presets.

update 2: in 1.3.1

  • smaller sharing codes X_x
  • better tapered smeared trail
  • more customization for pixel trails (added gravity now you can sprinkle in any direction)
  • neon tail for CRT effects
  • more bugs
  • added blinking smoothness
  • now you can have only the thunder effect (just put 0 density to not displays the pixels in Pixel Trail)
  • blinking smoothness

Didn't add new presets, cuz I didn't have time to make them. Maybe I will share the codes here later on.

update 3 (1.3.2) should be live soon:

-improved Aurora Effect - my favorite of all

- added a Signal Glitch jump in CRT options

- better caracter width for various serif and non serif fonts

Added vim support and presets for Cursor-Smith (v1.2.4). Fully customize each vim mode cursor.

Hello again!

I've wanted to let you that you can now fully customize vim cursors too. I've also added a show vim mode in status bar.
To enter Vim mode you will have to toggle it through the plugin settings -> CUA (Common User Access) / VIM

Btw, a fast way to use this plugin is with command palette (ctrl + p). Cursor-Smith has two commands:

  1. cycle presets
  2. toggle on/off the plugin

If you find any bugs, request any feature please open an issue on github or write it down here!

Have fun!

I've made Word-Smith. It's a distraction-free writing suite plugin.

Hellooooooooooo!

I've made a new plugin meant for writers. I could say here what I've said for the other plugin that I've made (Cursor-Smith), I just wanted a unified plugin for distraction free writing.

It has your usual features (focus mode and typewriter) in addition to some more interesting ones like:

- Retro status bar that can give a lot of info (it even has an annoying word goal animation :P ) .

- the WordGrinder inspired scroll bars, they work differently here, you'll see :D

- Wordcounts

If you have any ideas or find any bugs, please open an issue on github!

Cursor-Smith 1.1.2 is out! Forge your own cursor

Went lazy and did not made a proper showcase for this plugin, which I'm very proud of, and after the 1.1.2 update is more robust and stable.

For a quick introduction: There are many cursor plugins out there, but I've wanted fan unified one-stop shop experience. So, I've made Cursor-Smith to forge your own cursor. It's not just a customization "engine" for the cursor/caret. It's probably the MOST !!!TweAakaBLe!!!? cursor engine ever made ... probably.

It caters mostly to users that want a proper writing experience, users that have visbility issues, users that crave a certain typing vibe while writing their whimsical new bestseller or simply for users that want to customiiiiiize.

So,do you want a smooth blinking, smooth moving, relaxing caret? DONE. Want a jello-o green plasma moving caret? Done. CRT effects? Yup. Want to write dark fantasy with a torchlight? You name it!

What settings does it have?

  • Cursors types
  • Blinking
  • Smooth/Movement/Speed
  • Smear modes
  • Trailings
  • Fun effects

Please give me some feedback and some new ideas to work on expanding this plugin. I really want to see what your cursor of choice will be after playing with this for a while.

EDIT 1: most issues fixed with 1.1.8 (drag window, glitchy stuff, etc.) ---> thank you folks!

Made Cursor-Smith. The ultimate cursor customization tool for your writing.

https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/cursor-smith

https://github.com/Sadsnake1/cursor-smith

Made a big caret customization plugin. It now has 4 cursor types: line, underline, box, and the recent torch style. It has many effects: smear, trails, glow, pop letters etc.

I've made this because there are tons of small cursor plugins and wanted a single unified plugin to do everything regarding the cursor.

Feedback and testing will be much appreciated.

What cursor or cursor effect would you want next implemented? Give me some ideas to work on.

UPDATE - Just released 1.0.3 - added a new option : pixelated trailing effect.

edit 1: I've removed the original post because I forgot to add a video preview

edit 2: will soon add dark/light theme colors, smooth caret(need to research a bit), better default values for torch, plasma effect.

edit 3: added smooth caret options, dark/light, better defaults.

edit 4: reorganised the settings a bit better, opacity slider

Made a simple neovim writing enviroment.

Begginer here. I've wanted something simple. It has a filetree, a Zen Mode and a Theme picker. Pure raw plain text.

What more would you want for a dedicated writing enviroment?

Can this be done in Obsidian? Custom powerline for vim motions or normal(cua) motions?

I'm trying to create such a status bar for Obsidian. I want a customizable modeline/powerline with vim motions or normal (cua mode) that has word count, clickable button to source mode/live preview/ reading mode and to display other info like title of the note and so on.

One problem I have is that the status bar cannot occupy the whole note window width, either is not possible in obsidian or I am missing something.

Does anyone here tried something like this?
