Competitive intern
We’re 2 interns under the same manager/department and the other intern is making me very uncomfortable.
He’s always looking at my screen, asking me what i’m doing, if i go to the cafeteria for too long he follows me, includes himself in every conversation i’m having.
And lately, i noticed that he’s been mirroring what i’m doing. I know it sounds crazy and paranoid, and that’s why i haven’t talk about it to anyone.
But for example, one the many times i’ve noticed it, i started cleaning my laptop screen, 2 seconds later he started cleaning his.
We sit next to each other (desks are assigned), every 2 minutes i see him looking at my screen.
If I ask a question, he’d jump in and answer to look like he knows more. Sometimes he reformulates my questions. And I want to say something, but the conversations move so fast and I don’t want to interrupt anyone so i never feel like I get that opportunity.
I think he’s viewing me like a competition, but I couldn’t care less about competing. I’m confident in my skills and what I bring to the table.
It’s making me feel really uncomfortable and I don’t feel like I can ask to work independently, because we have the same projects.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? What can I do?
