How are people monitoring FortiSwitches managed by FortiLink when using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, OpManager etc.?

Are you routing/advertising the FortiLink subnet so the NMS can poll the switches directly, or are you just monitoring via the FortiGate logs/API/FortiAnalyzer?

Mainly looking for what works best in the real world, especially for larger environments and any gotchas you’ve hit.

I've been with a client for a number of years as an outside IR35 Network Consultant, via an agency using my Ltd company.

The newly appointed IT leadership team are moving towards FTC/inside IR35, but there is still a large programme of work underway and I'd like to explore whether my company could provide services under a Statement of Work instead.

Has anyone successfully moved from:

Contractor → Approved Supplier/Consultancy

with the same client?

Was the agency bypassed?

How did procurement view it?

Was it a monthly retainer or project-based SOW?

Any pitfalls to watch out for?
