Which camera should i buy?

Hey there, new videographer here! About a year ago I discovered my passion for video and filmmaking. I started with a Canon 1300D and an iPhone 17 Pro Max, shooting short films and cinematic shots, and I've been learning fast ever since. Now I feel like I need a better camera to match where I'm heading.

I run a gymnastics club and most of what I shoot is cinematic content for it. Training footage, behind-the-scenes, competition coverage, interviews with athletes and parents. We go to competitions regularly so I find myself in indoor arenas a lot, dealing with fast moving subjects and mixed lighting, usually as a solo operator. Having good footage genuinely helps the business. On top of that I want to shoot cinematic videos more generally, for clients too, and I just love the cinematic feeling overall, it's become a real passion.

My budget is around €2,000–2,500 body only and I'm based in Greece. I've been looking at the Sony FX30 and Sony FX3 but I'm very open to other suggestions in this range. What would you go with and why? Do you think the APC-S sensor will be a huge limit for my work?

Also would love recommendations for the full rig around whatever camera you suggest!

Thanks for your time!

What camera is the best for me?

Hey there, new videographer here! About a year ago I discovered my passion for video and filmmaking. I started with a Canon 1300D and an iPhone 17 Pro Max, shooting short films and cinematic shots, and I've been learning fast ever since. My budget is around €2,000–2,500 body only and I'm based in Greece. I've been looking at the Sony FX30, Canon C70 and Canon R6 V, but I'm very open to other suggestions in this range. What would you go with and why?

  • Budget: 2000$-2500$
  • Country: Greece
  • Condition: New
  • Type of Camera: Video first (Cinema camera would be overkill imo)
  • Intended use: Video 99% of the times
  • If photography; what style:
  • If video what style: Vlogs with cinematic shots, documentary like, event coverage, (I run a gymnastics club) training footage, competition coverage, athlete interviews, solo operator in indoor arenas with mixed lighting and fast moving subjects. Also want to shoot cinematic content for clients generally.
  • What features do you absolutely need: Reliable AF on moving subjects, good low light performance, no overheating for long unattended recording (2h+), 4K 120fps for slow motion
  • Portability: mostly solo run-and-gun, need a setup I can carry and operate alone
  • Cameras you're considering: Sony FX30, Canon C70 , Canon R6 V
  • Cameras you already have: Canon 1300D, iPhone 17 Pro Max
  • Notes: Also looking for full rig recommendations around whatever camera is suggested — lenses, microphone, tripod, accessories, the whole setup. Budget for the full rig is separate from the camera budget.
