Where do you find samples for tracking in 2026?

Greetings fellow trackers,

I am an old fart who used to fasttrack in the 90's and early 00's.

I am just getting started again, and I am looking for samples of a reasonable quality. In the good old days we used to rip samples from other tracks and store them in folders. But the good old days are gone, and so is the 540 MB HD with my sample-collection. 😉

I have a vague memory of something called AKAs Sample Collection, but I cant find it online.

I've "inherited" a MiniLab 3 from a family-member, and I have been playing around with the software, and the samples sound great!.
But is there anyway to find something similar, compatible with Fasttracker? It doesnt have to be loops, just "pure" sounds if you know what I mean. Like strings, a piano, a guitar etc.

Thank you for your time.

That lamp really tied the room together.

So I'm browsing for a new DVD-copy of Lebowski, thinking of buying some of the fancy Anniversary-stuff, when this shit pops up on my screen. To give you a frame of reference here 7.829 DKK equals 1200$.

Database for Pokemon Card Collection

Thank you for the membership of the group.

I am total database-novice looking for advice. I've recently started collecting Pokemon-cards, and collection is growing fast. So I've decided to make a record of my collection, and at this very moment I am typing in cards in Excel. And, it's catching on.

For those who aren't familiar with it, Pokemon cards exist in sets (just like regular playing cards). Each set consists of, roughly speaking, between 100-200 cards, and there are over 100 different sets.

Each set has a name, and each card is a Pokemon, and the card has a number.

So far, I've dedicated a sheet to each set, and slapped in numbers and names of Pokemon as I got the cards.

But, it's already a bit of a hassle.

I've only just started, and I'm already up to 15 different spreadsheets.

And, it's made me think if there's "a smarter way". Potentially, I could end up with 100 spreadsheets. 😊

What I would like was a database with the ability to:

  • create a new set
  • create a card in this set, i.e. number, name of pokemon when I get them
  • Small text about where the card is, which book, which box
  • Finally the ability to link to a picture of the card online
  • And probably some more stuff, I havent realized yet

My question, is it at all doable for a database novice? And what should I be looking into?

Finally, i was wondering if somebody already did this, but I cant find anything online for download and tweaking.

Thank you for your time

A couple of years ago I saw a Youtube-video, where a guy demoed this server-software he'd written. As I remember it was written in Python, and the basics only about 50 lines of code.

But it could do so much, there was a build-in music-player and ie. you could edit the meta-data of the music files. From what I recall there was no GUI, and if there was a kind of GUI it was ASCII-gfx.

I remember specifically this guy said he wrote the software on his smartphone, commuting to and from work. And that the video served as very to the point instruction of what the system was capable of, with a good sense of humor, and I think he was norwegian. Apparently this norwegian guy, also was the man behind some 30 second clip of anime-cartoon that went viral 10 years before before the presentation of the server software.

Feel free to delete this post, but I would really like to get my hands on this server software.

Thank you for your time.
