Gaming Laptop necessary for CIVL?

Apologies for the umpteenth post about laptops in the sub but just wanted to ask if the coursework in civil contains enough CAD/Civil 3D work to the point that something like a gaming laptop would be needed?

Have no plans to game on it or whatever but just worried about the hardware demands for any projects or design team work I may run into. Also plan to be on campus all day so laptop workstations would be ideal.

If any civil or other specializations have any experiences like this to share I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks

Question on Co-op placement rates

About to enter 2nd year and was wondering how accurate the 2025 co-op placement data is in terms of realistically landing a co-op term. https://coop.apsc.ubc.ca/2025-year-in-review

I understand placement depends on personal factors like GPA and personal projects, design teams etc. but for some programs like CIVL its damn near 80-90% which makes it seem like basically everyone landed one. Could an upper year or someone with co-op experience shed some light on if this is actually the case? How likely is someone with a good GPA but little personal/design team experience to land one?

Thanks
