A ‘mature’ story based in the 1800s
An early Widow who’s now 25 and childless never wants to marry again, not because her marriage was bad but she has learnt to enjoy the freedom being a widow gives her. That is until her late husband’s best friend asks her to marry him. He is 32 and needs a wife and heir.
She declines and then when she realises actually she does love this man, it might be too late.
I’m trying to word things as to not give too much away but there is a lot of drama, also it’s a ‘he falls first’ trope. He doesn’t propose just because he seeks an heir.
My other stories have been high school based and I really want to steer away from that and I just love period stories.

Edited- I had someone say about it being like Francesca’s book in Bridgerton. Although it’s only one comment I would like to clarify before others jump on. The ONLY similarity from the summary I’ve read on Google is that it’s someone close to her late husband.
- In my story, he doesn’t love her straight away not until she is widowed and their relationship shifts.
- Francesca wants to be a mother and re enters society. My Mc isn’t looking for a husband or to have children
- Lastly I never said in my story that it is a happy ending 🌝
