anime movie about crew of flying ship hunting mechanical whale or shark and the main character gets given a spear after surviving enough battles to become an ace. The main character has a friend who dies somewhere early-mid movie, and the captain of the ship/best hunter on the ship, is the only other person with a spear. I've found numerous suggestions on Google, but they're all about a crew hunting numerous creatures, but in the movie there's only the one mechanical whale or shark or whatever it was. I think it was 3Dish animation, if I remember right, but I can't remember. Any help would be appreciated.
