Any tips for someone wanting to make a VN?

So I've been writing some bits and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for someone wanting to make their first VN.

I'm like, pretty useless, don't know how to draw, code or anything, just some writing. Where should I begin? Is there any program that streamlines the creation of it? Or good websites with resources and props?

I'm new! Got some recommendations?

Okey I'm not new to visual novels, but I'm new to this reddit and also I haven't read many GL visual novels.

I don't have much in mind, I'd just love:

- For the characters to be college-age or older (sorry I come from reading tons of yuri manga and it's FILLED with high schoolers and I'm a bit tired of that 😭)

- And to avoid things like saya no uta (I know it's not yuri but you get the overall idea).

Fluffy romance is THE BEST but no one has died of a good dose of angst amiright? That's all, thanks in advance 🙈

Just finished Citrus and I have...opinions...

[EDITED]

I honestly need to say that while y'all are allowed to love any manga and sing their prayers, we need to stop saying that Citrus is a must read or a masterpiece.

I did enjoy it to some degree, and wouldn't say it's bad bad, it definitely has a really strong beginning episodes and the dynamics between the MCs are very nice and endearing. Also the drawing is beautiful. But I feel like that's where the good things end and the rest is quite mid.

• The transitions between panels can be an absolute mess.

• Secondary characters receive no love or time of the day out of what's moving the plot forward.

• It pulls more than one weird bullshit plot (hello, child prostitution), and then never really does anything with them, they are just dropped.

• Characters are presented as dilemmas due to their ideas, but they just change their mind, with no confrontation, no conversation, no emotional moments or time, FLASH! Now they are supporting if the little lesbians orz

• The ending is SO RUSHED, we move months forward in 2 pages and the resolution of chapters of building up is just...them talking with everyone on a couple panels, and happy wedding?

While I totally understand why people are really into it, I'm just wondering, as a very autistic individual, why recommend this as "a manga everyone should read"?

EDIT: Guys I know we all have different opinions, and we're all allowed to have them and like or dislike different yuri. After reading comments I get why the manga is important for lots of people, but that doesn't turn it into a masterpiece or a must read "for everyone".

Let's not bomb dislike people in the comments having disagreements or expressing that for them, Citrus is not that great or important. To me, Prince of persia the sands of time was a revolutionary videogame and a masterpiece, for most people born after the 2000s it's unknown and unimportant as assassin's creed exists and had more repercussion.

Let's be nice with each other please!!

Honestly, why are most of the more acclaimed yuri about messy high schoolers? 🫣

Apart from that, I've read till chapter 12 in mangadex, ignorant of it having around 40-50 chapters, but they're not in mangadex as they were probably taken down. Does anyone know where else I can read it?

Also, will I regret reading more or should I keep going?
