Yomi in a Box

Yomi staples her boxes most thoroughly. But this one is the exception. This is a lived in box.

Wholesome story of how my professor of Korean found out about guinea pigs

I hope this thread is allowed, mods please remove it if not.

Sorry for the lack of peeg tax, I haven't had a piggie for a very long time. Seeing how so many people keep running into those who belittle them for having piggies- or, at any rate, act like these are not "real" pets, along with bringing up the whole "they're food in South America" thing- I thought I'd share a story that goes against the grain.

A long time ago, when I did have peegs and was in my teens, I was learning Korean at a university. It turned out that one of my classmates, an adult, also had guinea pigs. We got into mentioning it during class and the professor was confused. Partially due a language barrier, he assumed that I had an actual pig, at home, as did my classmate...and the idea was so baffling to him as we live in a city, that he was obviously confused. And why from "India"? (Since we were Portuguese, except for him, we used the term "Porco da Índia"). Why go to the trouble of getting a pig from India...if you must have a pig at all, that is...?

So we ended up having to explain what a guinea pig even is, as he did was not familiar with the animal. This led to his drawing one on the whiteboard, according to our description, and ending up with a surprisingly accurate depiction.

He went on to read up more about guinea pigs. The whole notion of keeping small rodents as pets was very foreign to him but the verdict was, "they're cute. But why 'pigs'?"

It was a weirdly endearing moment that has stayed with me.

Happy (Neo)-Portugal Day

It's June 10, the day when my very own country, Portugal, celebrates its being still around after centuries on end. And, of course, that can only mean...Jester Gundam.

The bane of my existence, the only Gundam related anything to literally give me nightmares, it seems poised to haunt my days and nights as a Portuguese citizen who fears clowns...I AM THE VENN DIAGRAM-

And since facing one's fears is important, here is a whole thread about the spinning abomination that is Jester. Truly, words fail one.

With that said, for those curious, the rings may have been inspired by an astrological device featured in the flag, swipe right to see it.

The next step in this process would be, of course, Romario cosplay- the clown ain't real, the clown can't hurt you- the clow ain't real- the clown-

My first cat was a Cow and a truly sweet one. Kannon was found wandering the streets near by college, wearing a collar. Because of this, I assumed she was someone's pet and while I took to feeding her, I only took her in quite a few months after first encountering her. The collar you see here was removed soon enough.

She was always a very shy cat who only truly warmed up to me. Probably because she must have suffered so much as a stray- she was surely someone's pet and the collar makes me think she got lost but we never could find her original owners- she was afraid of rain and did not like the dark.

Never bit anyone except her young Tabby sister whom she truly did not like one bit.
