Should I get a second opinion?

I only just got a diagnosis at week 12 from injury that I strained a ligament in the Lisfranc complex.

Thankfully, my injury was never very severe. It was sore to walk on the day after I hurt it (cutting during field sports), but slowly seemed to progress. It never even bruised. It got to the point last week where the only reproducible pain is when I do the high velocity cutting action. Even was able to run on it 20 min with no pain during or after.

My doctor didn't really tell me anything about the injury, just called me and said it takes 2-3mo to heal. Here I am at month 3 still with pain. He responded that it is common for it to take up to 6 months to heal.

I asked whether I ought to see a PT or do any specific exercises to help it heal and he sent me a sprained ankle strength booklet, which slightly confused me. It struck me as strange that he changed the expected recovery timeline in an instant and had literally 0 suggestions for what action I should take to help most with healing.

Then when I start reading online, I get afraid that I missed a window of time where I should have been immobilizing it. I'm worried I stretched the ligament and the healing process will never return my foot to its prior health.

Has anyone been through an injury or similar severity? Should I get a second option from an orthopedic podiatrist?
