Looking for help/suggestiosn
Long story short... about 25 years ago I bought a Beatmania Watch from an import game site. I don't remember which one, but there were a lot of different places I'd buy from.
I've only ever been able to find one reference to this anywhere on the internet and it's this site here:
https://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~ua4s-njm/bemani/bm_pok10.html
The watchband has long since disintegrated and turned to plastic-y dust, but I was able to change out the batteries (2x CR2032). It's keeping time and it plays the animations (there is a simple scratching game you can play with the little 'scratch' control), but there's no sound.
The entire back of the watch is a fairly large speaker, and if anything it was obnoxiously loud. All the wires appear connected still, I took a piezo speaker I had laying around and tried to touch it to the contacts and I'm still not getting anything.
My recollection was there were actual audio samples it.
I'd like to at least get it fixed, but if there really isn't anything about this out there I don't know if anyone is doing any type of preservation of these solid state standalone games.
The LCD itself is very odd, all of the elements are black by default and only go light when powered. It's also non-rectilinar, so there's this whole fisheye distortion that you get that's kinda cool.
Any suggestions?
