"He is elegant, sensual, conscious of his body." Easy phrase, but I misunderstood "conscious of his body."

You may barely believe it, but I knew what "conscious of" means.

When I saw this phrase, I thought that there was a specific meaning of "conscious" that I didn't know because of the two words before it.

Ofc, I don't think that my English skills are good. I have much to learn...but seriously? How in the world did I understand the word as "Readily recognizable"???

I have had enough of my clumsiness. I hope that this is just something like a slump. :(

It should sound too silly....but I didn't know "jerk off" could be a transitive verb too.

Yes, I mean the post that asked what "circlejerk" meant.

Since I knew what it meant (Don't ask why I knew that...), I laughed, saw the comments, and the calamity of knowledge DID happen.

"Jerk someone off"???? So... does this really mean that one masturbates someone?????? Did I get it wrong right?

My English skills are getting worse....

To get to the point, I have started to forget and misread easy words, which has been getting a little more frequent.

I'm not going to make excuses here. I admit that my English skills are becoming rusty, and I need to learn and practice more. I have learned English for just a year and a half, so it's too greedy of me to want to be fluent in English like most B2~C1 learners.....

However, there is something peculiar. As for words that are hard to learn and not often used in ordinary conversations...they are stuck in my head so strongly. So, I can easily read and catch expressions and vocabulary in news and wikis, but not in other media, such as TV show movies. This makes me confused about where my exact level is.

This is just about my reading skills issue. About writing skills? I'm afraid of making silly mistakes, so I use Grammarly(Still, I ignore recommending better expressions not to completely rely on this app)and... it has gone off eight times to revise my phrases when I write this post. Eight times!

As I mentioned above, yes, my vocabulary is too bad to select or recall natural words. It makes me anxious and frightened. I need to try to interact with natives to improve my writing skills...But I don't have much time or confidence.

Therefore, the most important thing is how to learn English, which fits my present state exactly. I'm now posting a series of "write random short sentences" to practice English writing and getting useful advice from kind commenters. It's very helpful, and I couldn't appreciate it enough, but it's not enough itself. I've got to seek more means.

Sorry for confusing you folks by rambling. I absolutely have no idea how to describe my state clearly. :( .....

PS: As for "Paucity" and "Dearth", when are both used particularly? I know these are too stiff and rarely used in daily conversations, but I'm curious. (I memorised them by accident and can't get them out of my head, but Idk why)

(I believe using languages is one of the tools for expressing and reflecting my thoughts and ego. So, transcribing could disrupt this. I guess. Better to use an AI translator than just copy phrases.)
