Splitboard size recommendation

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice on the size of a splitboard. I am 1.95m and weight around 88kg (with large feet size EU 46.5).

I am wondering which splitboard size should I go for?

Jones’ website mentions a ~164W free ride snowboard (not splitboard) for my physical characteristics.
If we consider the additional weight from the backpack and gear, and the fact that I am looking to ride powder mainly, what would be the right size?
Is there a big difference between a 164W and a 169W (which is what I have at the moment and wondering if I should not size down)?

The main goal is for general backcountry riding, to have good stability and a good trade off between climbing efficiency (for touring), riding powder and ease to turn.

Thanks in advance!

Making like-minded friends

Hey everyone,

I’m living near Lausanne and looking to meet new people and build genuine friendships.

I’m 31 (M) and would love to connect with people around 27–34 who share similar interests and values. I’m into mountain activities, rock climbing, splitboarding, mountaineering and I also love surfing. I play guitar as well.

Personality-wise, I’m open-minded, respectful, easygoing, and I enjoy meaningful conversations, good humour, and authentic connections. I also connect well with people who are international-minded, have travelled, or are curious about different cultures, as that’s a big part of who I am too.

French is my native language, but I’m happy to meet people who speak either French or English.

If this sounds like a good match, feel free to send me a message (ideally a few words about yourself would be great too)!

All the best

I am looking for some advice.

I have been splitboarding for a moment, with other splitboarders and skiers.

So far, my limit is around 1500 meters elevation gain and I do not consider myself to be fast (300m/h-350m/h speed). I am however quite fit and I consider myself to have good legs (I am also mountaineering and running).

I do feel quite tired after 1200 meters elevation gain and I am wondering why is this when my partners seem to be still going well (while they are less physically fit than me in general).

I am wondering if I don’t have an extra charge or an overweight backpack.

I am 1.95m, have a 169W split board and carry an avalanche airbag. I usually pack light and do bring a 2 litres bottle of water with me as I drink quite a lot.

Is this elevation gain and speed considered to be good, average, low..? How could I improve my endurance and limit?

Could it be that my board is too big and it’s harder to carry and use for the kick turns etc? I do like a longer board when it’s powder day though.

I feel that something is off or perhaps my legs and cardio simply suck and I would need to work on this.

Thanks for the feedback!
