Open MRI claustrophobia

Are the open MRIs much better? I was supposed to have an MRI of my brain today and I considered myself slightly claustrophobic but …

They put this contraption over my head that already makes me feel claustrophobic and then when they put me in that tube I had a full on panic attack. I calmed down. I tried to do it again but absolutely not, Before the tech even left the room I told him to get me out of there.
Are the open MRIs that much better? My doctor is going to get me a referral for that also for some anti-anxiety medication but that stuff has never worked for me.
I don’t know what to do. I was really embarrassed and I’m also very disappointed in myself. I need to get these tests done, but I couldn’t even last 30 seconds in there.
