The best hobbies are the ones that make you lose track of time

I only really notice a hobby is worth it when I look up and hours are gone. No checking the clock no thinking about anything else just fully locked in. For me it used to be gaming but lately it has been stuff like fixing small things around the house and messing with the yard.

There is something about getting into a flow where your brain just shuts off all the noise. I tried forcing myself into hobbies people say are productive but I always end up dropping them fast. The ones that stick are the ones where I forget to even check my phone.

Even simple stuff like cooking a new recipe or tinkering with tools in the garage can turn into half a day without noticing. It makes normal downtime feel kind of empty in comparison.

Feels like the best hobbies are not about being good at them but about how easily they pull you in and keep you there.

What hobbies actually make you lose track of time like that
