What are these two for? I'm new to sailing, and they both seem to carry the same function but in a different way.

This is the stern of a 1969 interlake sailing dinghy. These two pulleys are on the port side and are mirrored on the starboard side. Today, we used the rear pulley to attach to the boom sheet. Both fore and aft pulleys can do the same thing. The fore set connects to the front of the cabin(i don't really know terms that well. Where we sit) on their respective sides, and the rear pulleys connect at the back of the cabin.

Recently purchased this Interlake. Im brand spankin new to sailing. Are there any good reddit threads about interlakes?
