How would I go about dying 100% cotton bedspreads into something colorful and funky?
I bought 2 twin-sized quilted bedspreads from a thrift store. The label states that the top, bottom, and middle batting are all 100% cotton. I believe the quilting thread is polyester because it is shiny, but I think that would make an interesting design element. I understand that it would dye a different color. To be clear, I want to use this to make a quilted garment (likely a jacket). I can cut it into pattern pieces and then dye it, so I don't have to submerge the entire twin-sized item at once. I want to create some sort of texture or color effect, not a completely solid color. Maybe ice dying? Does anybody have experience with such a project? Thanks!
