at first I thought purirun was a guy, and I thought that he was oblivious to love since he was aroace. Meroron is a lesbian and it’s nice to see queer rep in kids shows

I still like him, but idk why he kind of annoys me. if I had to rank my fav to least, it’s Aiger > hikaru > Hyuga > Bel > Pri (if she counts) Dante > Valt

Note: I’m going to use the English names for the beyblades and characters since I have never watched the sub.

Ive recently rewatched burst, evolution, and turbo, so once all the episodes are available on YT, I may remake this tier list. I also want to say I did story> battles, so even if there’s a season with good or bad battles, I think the story needing to compliment the outcomes matters more

starting off with the worst season, then going to the best

QUAD DRIVE:

1. Bel as a character is quite annoying, however I think his attitude of “I’m only preparing for a victory” is a cool concept. however we need a battle or a character that really challenges this belief
2. why is Rashad here? like I understand the message of not copying someone and following your own path, but for them to become the antagonist with this plot buildup just didn’t make any sense. he had no reason to be evil, nor was the high prince thing ever mentioned in a past season, making it feel weaker
3. felix just doesn’t do much. it’s like they wanted a Phi, but it also gives Arthur vibes (which I’ll talk about more later). he’s there, then becomes irrelevant, with almost nothing being taught to Bel or the cast
4. Ranjiro was pushing it with the kiyama side kick pattern, but at least was a friend to bel. if Bel had a problem with making friends, then he would have been more significant, but it wasn’t expanded upon enough
5. Bashara is good, but he needed more focus in the later parts of the season, and Ilya was here just to represent a girl in the series (at least that’s what it felt like)
6. overall the season had ok battles, but Bel isn’t that bad of a protagonist, but the plot needed to challenge his ideas more than just him having to copy to get through something.

QUAD STRIKE

1. Pri was a good character for this series but wish she was the one who beat Pax, not Bel. However why does she have 9 on her suit instead of 4? (She has IX not IV) meanwhile Bel here is the same and didn’t really learn anything
2. the beys overall are just really strange, and some of the names were too complicated compared to other seasons, which makes sense since it’s hasbro exclusive, a mainly English focused company, but doesn’t fit compared to the other beys in the series
3. Pax was actually a better character (as a character, not their ideas or morals) than I though he would be, but his villain outfit looks so weird for his personality
4. why Kit, why not Daigo? however I think the tournament with kit (I forgot the name) had most of the best parts of the series. Daigo is the only character that doesn’t have a proper appearance in the season from the original cast, so it just feels wrong, like at least bring their younger brother back
5. the ending tornament doesn’t do a good enough job to show off each of the past protagonlists. I think it needed more time, and even the losing characters should’ve had at least 2 battles, not 1
6. this season wasn’t that bad, but the flaws it has really just makes me mad

SURGE

1. If you need old characters that were written well to make the show decent, then you got a problem. however I think utilizing good characters is a good part. I just needed the new characters of this season to be equal or better than them
2. the side characters in the club with Hyuga and Hikaru are really boring design wise, and I wish they‘ve done more
3. Shu is good, (Shu supremacy), I wish he didn’t bait us into thinking he was evil when we already know that he wouldnt do red eye stuff again
4. Hyuga and Hikaru are good protagonists too, but they dont feel as good as other protagonist. their bond in the anime is really what drives them, not their individual strengths. if they were separated they wouldn’t be able to do as well, which does upset me
5. Lain is a good character too, but he is sometimes infuriating to watch idk why
6. this season is good, but the way the legends are treated dont feel like someone you look up to, and admire, which was a little disappointing. I put it as overrated because some think that they glaze the legends of the season more than the protagonists

EVOLUTION

ik ik this is crazy, but honestly, rise and evolution can be flipped around, for a reason I’ll explain soon

1. Red eye build up was sad, like we knew Shu was Red Eye from the beginning, so we emotionally never had the shock when he was revealed.
2. Red eye doesn’t make as much sense for Shu, it’s a bit of a stretch. I’m glad he is red eye because I like protagonists turned evil, and I like shu, but it doesnt sit right with me
3. there was one episode where Valt pushed back his friends and acted like red eye, but it was resolved the same episode, which I wish was stretched out longer, it would give Valt more character development than just strength development
4. Cuza felt underwhelming for his role, and sometimes annoying, so I think his execution could’ve been better. Cleo did nothing to the plot, since the lesson Cuza learned from him didnt really help Valt or himself at the end. I think Boa has a similar problem with Cuza, but I cheer him on more than Cuza, so I wanted him to have more screen time
5. Silas was good, and was actually my favorite character from the season after my rewatch (excluding preexisting characters). his development was good, and he never felt weak.
6. the battles were peak, but the final battle needed more oomph.
7. Ren wu needed more wins, Joshua is perfect as is, Free is the goat, and returning characters were equally as good as the first season, maybe better
8. there are too many side bladers. They feel significant, but really they aren’t, and could have been written just slightly different without them, and there would be more time for the main bladers
9. Dont get me wrong, this season is still really good, but It didnt lean into narrative enough when it had a lot more going on than the og burst season

RISE

underrated as heck

1. lui and free being replaced was sad, as they didnt do much after Dante beat them , but if this season was the first one in the burst series, nobody would have been mad. still upsetting, but people are getting too mad over this and calling this the reason why the season sucked
2. Arthur sucked, and thats perfect, because it let the focus on gwyn be stronger. He really is superior to Arthur
3. speaking of Gwyn, his reason to be the antagonist is really strange, like he doesn’t want friends but he didn’t need to go crazy over that one detail. I think his arc ended nicely though
4. Dante didn’t have much development himself, but helped push others to change for the better, so he is a well written static character
5. delta isn’t Shu. He’s like Shu, but has a different arc, where he finds that help doesn’t make him weaker (where Shu’s was more about having friends who support you no matter how weak or strong you are).
6. i forgot his name, but the person with purple curls was too insignificant for what he was attempting to be. worse than Arthur.
7. Arman is good for a side character too
8. this season needed more time, and I think if we had the time, it may have been the best season. it does well for its run time, and is underrated as heck

BURST

1. Never a bad moment, always ok or good
2. The rivals that we never see again are done in a way that you don’t want to care for them, but helps build the characters we do care about, which was nice.
3. the exception was Akira, who was overhyped for 1 battle
4. each of the core characters have their moments, and Ken who left the group still had a good role later
5. Shu is goated as usual
6. character wise, valt didn’t really grow, but he does have a good personality to begin with so it’s fine. His plot armor was insane though (EDIT: noticing it now it really isn’t plot armor, but it feels plot driven, especially against lui. However it helps with the emotional aspect of the series, since I was mad and happy alongside him)
7. this season really leaned into the battles, so even if the narrative wasn’t that deep, it compliment the series nicely, giving it the second best season slot

TURBO

I may be biased as this was my intro to beyblade, but its a goated season

1. Aiger is by far the best protagonist of burst, maybe even all of Beyblade (sorry Jaxon). some are mad he replaced Valt when Toko should’ve been valt’s replacement, but I still think Aiger was done really well, and his English VA was excellent
2. Cap’n is so much better than honcho, (prove me wrong). unlike honcho, he support Aiger and acts as his best buddy, while Honcho doesnt really help Valt and feels like he’s there just for comedic relief.
3. phi was a good villain too. he is the best in burst, and his aura is insane. rewatching turbo he was a bit over glazed, but he still has the crazy sephiroth vibe that makes his evilness feel right
4. The battles work well with the narrative, and affects them like none before
5. my main complaints are with characters though, like Kyle having an unsatisfying existence, since he seemed strong, but was weak, toko needing more time, and Hercule’s owner (i always forget his name), not having enough plot relevance for his screen time
6. the series has better things, but also flaws that werent apparent as much in other seasons, making it harder to rank than the others, but I think Aiger and Phi alone already helps it get to the top
