Allied health to PhD pathways?

I don’t see this discussed often here, can anyone share their experiences pursuing a PhD with a background in OT/SW/SP/Physio?

What I’m interested to hear about:
- Your prior research experience, if any.
- Your stats and if you were successful in obtaining an RTP scholarship
- Did you apply for other scholarships e.g NHMRC?

My situation, I would appreciate any feedback:
- No clinical research experience through the workplace, nil opportunities to do so as I’m self employed in private practice.
- BSc Occupational Therapy with Upper 2nd honours from a low ranked uni, CWA of 79%
- Grad Cert Mental Health from a different low ranked uni with CWA of 84%
- Currently completing my first semester Master of Brain and Mind Science and averaging somewhere around 85-90% so far. If all goes well (maintain an average above 70%) will likely complete a substantial research project. Group of 8 uni.
- Domestic student

I have a specific interest in UniMelb or Monash due to their trans and women’s health research supervisors respectively. Any insight would be appreciated, thank you.

Cash out without a debit card?

Trying to buy the missus a gift off marketplace but I’m a doofus and have lost my personal debit card, and don’t want to use our shared card for obvious reasons. I’m with Up Bank so there’s no branch to withdraw from. Anyone know of an ATM (I know some Next ATMs do this?) or other solution to get some cash out using Apple Pay? Happy to drive wherever in Perth.

Would particularly appreciate advice from anyone who’s done this recently, but also in general. My wife is a few years into her transition and we’ve both noticed a massive spike in aggression in Perth recently (definitely in general as I think most people in Perth could attest to, but can’t shake the massive transphobia element that just seems to rise). We’re both women in our late 30s, have always lived in Perth and generally liked it until the last few years but recently safe queer spaces are dwindling faster than ever (have had several incidents at previously safe club nights and just don’t go anymore) and I just cant accept a life where my wife feels safe at the one epic gym she’s found and nowhere else.

We get those messed up flyers in the mail about the RPH gender clinic abusing children or whatever, and don’t talk to our neighbours because they’re also transphobic, so no idea if it’s targeted or not.

Just wanting to hear from trans women who have made the move to Melbourne - was it worth it? Do you feel safer? Was it easy to find a sense of community if you’re a little older?

Would love to hear your experiences, and I’m very thankful for you taking the time to share them with me.
