Blur “Modern Life is Rubbish”

I always found the Blur vs Oasis media driven rivalry ridiculous. Oasis wanted so badly to be the Beatles, but lacked the talent. The media wanted Blur to be the Stones, but sounded nothing like them (. Media driven sensationalism just to drive record sales (and newspapers/magazines) always comes up shallow.

Oasis had two great albums, but Blur had a more sustained and better catalog. Blur are infinitely more creative and produced more interesting music. Turns out Damon Albarn is one of the best song writers of the past 35 years. The Gallagher brothers are just loud.

In my opinion, Modern Life is Rubbish is up there with Park Life and Blur (Self Titled).

An album that gets better with age

It’s a shame that there probably won’t be a follow up to Them Crooked Vultures with John Paul Jones being 80 and all.

What’s a rare or uncommon record that you found, but only you were hyped about finding?

The Crystal Method “Vegas” was mandatory listening to any roadtrip my best friend and I made in college. I was unaware it was ever pressed until I randomly found it in shop. My wife was unimpressed by the price, but it’s one of my favorite nostalgia trips.
