IR46 Memorial, Wœrth

IR46 Memorial, Wœrth

The Battle of Wörth was the bloodiest day in the history of Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 46 - 378 men were killed, missing or later died of wounds, while another 489 were wounded. Among the casualties were the regimental commander Oberst von Stosch, one of three battalion commanders, ten of twelve company commanders, twenty-one of thirty-six platoon leaders, and nearly a third of the regiment’s NCOs and enlisted men.

I’m currently working on a museum exhibition dedicated to the Regiment and its history, so can share some here.
Would you rather see more IR46 research and stories here - or more gear and uniform details?

My Imperial German 1914 Officer impression

I thought this might be a good way to introduce myself here.
This is my current 1914 Imperial German Officer impression, based on an Oberleutnant of Infanterie-Regiment 'Graf Kirchbach' (1. Niederschl.) Nr. 46.
I’ve been building the impression for quite a few years, and one of the things I enjoy most is going beyond just the uniform and field equipment. Over time I’ve been collecting all the personal items an officer might actually have taken with him — underwear, shirts, toiletries, cutlery, glasses, smoking items and other bits and pieces that usually don’t get much attention.
Some of the items are original period pieces, others are reproductions. The impression is still evolving 😅
The last photo shows the impression in use with my LHG

Happy to discuss any of the individual pieces — and I’m always interested in constructive feedback.
