So, I installed macOS ... err ... no ... that's Ubuntu 26.04 LTS GNOME

And so, my OS mimicry series continues. My Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with GNOME 50 now thinks it's macOS 27 Golden Gate.

The liquid glass effect is part of the original Blur My Shell extension.

I also made use of Kiwi (is no Apple) and the Kiwi menu.

The GTK theme comes from the great Vince Luis:

The desktop widgets are the Gridgets:

OS mix aka OS mimicry

Here's my imagination what if Microsoft and Canonical joins forces and creates a shared OS.

This is GNOME Shell on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS

I used the GS extension "Simple Taskbar", "Blur my Shell", "Dynamic Music Pill", "Gridgets", "P7 Borders" among others.

The wallpaper comes from SakibShahariar on Github, he has a collection of more than 400 great wallpapers on one of his Github repositories.

By inserting this piece of code into /home/.config/gtk4.0/gtk.css I achieved translucency and made the apps blurred via "Blur my Shell".

window {
  background: alpha(@window_bg_color, 0.8);
}

.sidebar-pane,
.sidebar,
.navigation-sidebar{
  background: transparent;
}

.content-pane,
.text-box{
  background: transparent;
}

But I didn't forget to create a backup fo the gtk.css file in case I want to return to the original GNOME opaque appearance with ease.

The slides:

  1. Desktop and Dynamic Music pill.
  2. The Win 11 inspired start-menu from "Simple Taskbar".
  3. Tiled windows with the "Tiling Shell" extension and the specs of my laptop. (1).
  4. Tributary, the GTK 4 fork of Rhythmbox.
  5. Just the desktop, the wallpaper and the Gridgets (which are not available on extensions.gnome.org.
  6. Last but not least, the legacy applets tray bar with some applets from the good ol' Ubuntu Unity shell days

(1) After my own review of my posting I found out that I made the screen shot before I changed the icon theme to "Yaru -red dark" Unfortunately Reddit doesn't let me edit the image slides

Another Rice by me

After I remembered the movie "Superman vs. Batman - Dawn of Justice" and the fictional commercials for the fictional Lex/OS from Lexcorp I tried to create such a Lex/OS for real.

This time before I temporarily switched back to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS I used my other Linux distro, openSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE 6.7.

The first slide shows my attempt to create "Lex/OS and the second slide provides you with the wallpaper I saved more than ten years ago.

My first posted rice

This is one of my what feels like tens of thousands of themes, tweaks, customization's I did with my Linux installations.

Let's say "Let's Windows Vista live again!"

I used the newest Blur my Shell, tweaked the GTK4 css file, used Just Perfection to move the panel to the bottom, I added Arc Menu and Desktop Witgets (Desktop clock), used the Windows Vista original wallpaper and Win Vista Aero icons.

Not to forget the My Computer extension to Files (formerly known as Nautilus)

This is Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with GNOME 50.
