Insane GameCube Potential but sadly very little support (mute the audio)

This here is the RG353V and this lil handheld has been my buddy for a while now, recently i did a Internal Heat Sink Mod and then Updated the Vulkan Drivers via SSH (tho idks thats the main reason since they were already 1.3 or something) but the recent dArkOS Build Got my system running this at 60 FPS which is insane i did not expect this even during gameplay i get 30-45 FPS sadly dolphin on these darkOS Builds are a No gui basic old version idek if its using proper Vulkan Drivers and has no way to turn on or off the Frame Skipping to get playable speeds i so wish the darkOS devs actually port a good version of dolphin and try optimizing this cz this would be so cool!

Heat Sink Mod for My RG353V

I love my RG353V decided it deserved some more love so i added a heatsink for better thermals and i did notice the device get really hot during gameplay especially Heavy titles,

CAUTION ⚠️ THIS MOD REQUIRES BASIC SHELL MODIFICATION ON THE TOP PART OF THE HOUSING WHERE THE CPU RESTS DIFFICULTLY: EASY

  • The results? Well i noticed how it doesn't get extremely hot really fast when playing demanding PSP Titles, and also GameCube Titles are way more playable now idk if its just me or something or could be the placebo effect lol but the temps are definitely better and it takes a lot of heat away but again it's tight space so the heavy doesnt have much to escape from

Current CPU and GPU Live Monitoring Status Show On Idle CPU 1.1ghz to 1.0 On Idle GPU 300mhz to 299mhz

On Demand CPU 1.9ghz to 2.0ghz On Demand GPU 800mhz (Fixed)

Temps :( i couldn't monitor since i dont have specialized tools or anything to monitor heat with i would if i could i have this device to check human temperature from afar it doesn't have batteries :'(

:p but its definitely cooler (trust me bro)

  • Future Upgrade? Battery Mod! Battery Mod! Battery Mod! i noticed how much empty space i have its about 7 cm by 5 cm (being a bit conservative) in this size i might grab a good phone battery and resolder the IC would be cool! And maybe just maybe we can also make grills and holes for the heat to escape and who knows i may also find a suitable fan to fit in there (Definitely not happening tho lol just excitement talk)

Twilight Princess Dusk Playability Report (Android Port)

So ik this is already way beyond the scope of this kind of hand-held but still its fun to give it a shot, as u can see the game is Semi-Playable depending on what you are willing to sacrifice, Using the Vulkan Back end is seemingly the only option and the resolution is a lil higher than 1X to match the display res

In gameplay the FPS is 12-22 nothing more or less, surprisingly the game still slows down even tho its native port, the speed issues alone make the game unplayable and the fluctuating fps makes is for a horrible experience

But i find it fascinating we can even do this and android has worse Vulkan Drivers than dArkOS has since

#Twilight Princess on the Linux Side via dArkOS and Dolphin

Using Dolphin on dArkOS surprisingly u get hugher FPS on the loading screen and both in game the FPS staying 15-23 even reaching 30 On cutscenes and open areas however! Due to using Outdated no gui dolphin the Linux side is worse than android on many cases purely due to optimization since I tried running Paper Mario on this and it worked from 20-30 FPS no slowdowns but thats a way lighter game, Honestly its amazing this is still possible so yeah

Final thoughts? On Android its way more playable tho not enjoyable only visit as a Nostalgia Prompt and if u had played it before, Dusk Developers did an amazing job at this i hope we will see more improvements on it, Linux side? Very Promising but lack of support and OS due to too much variety and very lil devs being interested
