Family Spring Break

We are looking to travel to SPI the second week of March 2027, with two families (4 adults, 5 kids - ages 9 and under). I have never been to the Texas Coast (MN Native), but it looks like the perfect destination. My hope is to find a beach house to comfortably fit us all, kids can play in the pool while adults relax, and we can easily walk down to the beach. Hoping for restaurants and/or ice cream and coffee in walking distance too.

With that said, I am concerned about visiting during spring break. Seems like SPI has a reputation for a lively spring break crowd. We are not opposed to seeing people having a good time, drinking, or hearing music occasionally. My main concern is feeling like I plopped my family in the middle of a college spring break town, instead of more family forward vibes. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Edit- The house I am interested in is located by Beach Access 21 Good Hope. Open to suggestions of other areas too.

New 5 Gallon Tank

I am looking for advice on setting up a 5 gallon tank for my two kids in their room.

I have the tank, filter, heater, aquarium rock, a few plants, and two decorations (SpongeBob and Squidward’s house). I did 78 degree water with the correct dose of API Quick Start.

We started with 3 guppies yesterday evening. We have already lost 2. I know tanks can take a few weeks to cycle, and smaller ones are challenging.

What tips / tricks do you suggest moving forward? Please remember this is meant to be fun and kid friendly hobby.
