Hello, I'm looking to send EUR to AUD asap. It will be around $25k EUR. I know about Wise but I'm worried that funds may be locked until we proof funds are legit. Dad's savings are going to help with a home deposit in AUD.

I don't want the money to sit in the black hole with a bank transfer. Also don't want to go the crypto route as my dad might not understand wallet addresses too well.

Do you have any suggestions and/or good experiences with Wise? I have a EUR account setup in my Australian account. Would the transfer from my dads Wise account be near instant?

Hello, I'm trying to understand the new tax changes regarding negative gearing which won't be applicable on existing properties from the 1st of July 2027.
Would this be the same for properties that are not setup for long-term tenants?
Currently looking at a unit in a coastal town where maximum occupancy is 90 days at the time.
This will never be a home for first-home buyers because of the max. occupancy condition..
I was hoping to use negative gearing because the income would only barely cover the body corporate and strata fees (if at all).
I am also trying to get my head around:
'From 1 July 2027, losses related to existing residential investment properties purchased from 7:30pm AEST 12 May 2026 will only be deductible against other income from residential properties, including capital gains.'

I understand the wording, e.g. any losses can be claimed against the capital gain once sold. Are there any other ways to make investment properties more appealing?
