Which department is better : IT or AI DS ?

I have been alloted IT branch but i am more leaned towards AI due to my interest in this field. Is it good to leave IT and join AI DS branch in round 2 if possible ?

How is the AI DS department ?

at 21K rank ,is cat 2 CSE with specialisation or IT branch or ECE possible at VIT chennai ?
