The 2nd and 3rd verses are concerning. I hope Cam is referring to someone else.
They describe opiate addiction to a tee. “Horse” is a street name for heroin and it’s always on your back and will stomp you flat. But it temporarily gives you all you need - but eventually your loneliness returns and you fall apart.
Cam, be careful mate. Keep it to fiction.
For those only listening to songs from Getting Killed, granted it has some good songs, but actually listen to 3D Country. It’s a better, more cohesive album and body of work and gives faith for the next Geese album.
I believe Getting Killed was a quick affair, taking 10 days to put down, and it shows. I get that’s what the band wanted to do. So many new listeners haven’t even listened to their back catalogue. Granted I’m biased bc I first heard of the band through 3D but it’s definitely a better album.
With all this new attention, I hope they return to another cohesive album for their next release. They have the talent and vision. I think their next release will be telling of their future. But listen to their back catalogue, not just Getting Killed! Respect the band you supposedly love.
Geese are still extremely talented musicians who make refreshing rock music that’s good.
Nothing else matters.
Edit: I did mean Husbands, not Cobra. I consume music as albums and just had it playing. That’s all.
It’s clearly about heroin/opiates. Hopefully Cam is singing from a perspective of someone else and not struggling it.
But anyone who has been through it will understand. And it’s not just the “horse on my back”. It’s everything it provides and everything it takes.
