Gonna pick up some more today, but these are all the ones I got yesterday. That may sound like alot for some people, but it’s my bday month and I got a lot of Costco Barnes and Noble gift cards lol.
I started Happiness last night before having to put my 1 year old to bed and man I’m so glad I picked it first. The reason I picked it is because I’ve come to the realization that I love movies that make you feel uncomfortable like most recently The Drama and Lurker. And I’ve seen many promising reviews about Happiness. (Also Philip Seymour Hoffman is the best).
Ghost Dog for sure. I watched it on streaming last year and loved it so so much, but never got the chance to get it physically until now.
All of these are considered blind buys because I’ve only watched Ghost Dog. The reason for this is because last year was my first year getting into Criterion and I got alot of the movies I have already watched like Trainspotting, Sound of Metal, Memories of Murder, etc. So, I’ve spent the past few months researching ones I might like based on directors that I love or ones that generally interesting. For example, The Game and Cloud, have 2 directors I love very much.
Today I’m probably going to pick up the John Singleton trilogy, because I LOVE Baby Boy and Boys N The Hood and still can’t believe they are apart of Criterion now. Also, Hunger, Mississippi Masala, and Watermelon Woman are on my list of must buys. Others I’m considering but might wait until next sale are The Others, Resurrection, High and Low, Godzilla, The Woman and the Whore, Come and See, and My Private Idaho.

I just graduated with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and I’ve already obtained a well paying job in Cybersecurity.
Most of my life I always loved Film and storytelling but was always told not to pursue it by my parents because of job insecurity.
Now that I have the job and degree, I feel empty. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy, and my 1 year old son is healthy but I want to fulfill that Film and Storytelling hole in my heart. I also would feel more proud of myself with a Film degree hanging on the wall of my home, as that is something I would do out of pure love. Is there a way where I can use my credits from my bachelor’s degree to speed up the process of say a B.A. in Screenwriting/Filmmaking, since I’ve completed most prerequisites?
Also, I live in a different state than my college that I graduated from. Would it be smart to stay with that college or go to a better school for film in my current state? (For reference, I’m went from MS to Atlanta, GA)
