What to expect?

I posted on here a few months ago about accepting a job for Westside High School for HISD. I will be starting July 30th and am a little nervous. This will be my first year teaching and tbh I don’t really know what to expect from HISD. I hear good things, then I hear bad things, which is which? Should I test my luck in another district? Thanks in advance.

Seeking Advice as a first year teacher.

Greetings all,

I will be a first year teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. I am currently a ACP student and am nearing the end of my program. I will be certified to teach ELAR 7th-12th. I am deeply passionate about teaching, I knew I wanted to be a teacher and coach since I was in high school. This truly is my passion and my dream job. I know people have different opinions about the profession now, but I know in my heart that I was put on this earth to teach and make a difference.

So far, I have two job offers, both of these offers are for HISD. I know what you’re fixing to say, but these are the only schools that have reached back out to me. I have offers from Westside High School and an offer from Chavez High School. I am seeking advice on which school would be a better fit for me? I know that Chavez High School is not part of the NES, however, they still do follow NES rules and regulations. Westside on the other hand, I am not too sure.

Nevertheless, entering my first year as a teacher, which school would be a better fit?
