Bike stolen after 1 day 😔

Hello!

I just arrived in Uppsala for 1 week, and just got myself a second hand hybrid bike 3 days ago. I parked it in a bike rack behind my building in Flögstä with a cheap lock temporarily after buying it, and went to Biltema to buy a more solid U-lock. But after I came back, the bike was already gone 😭 And I saw a lock of another bike on the rack without a bike too, so maybe they stole several of them.

I already read some threads here about bike theft, but I didn't think that I would be this serious and happened to myself not even 1 day after I bought a bike. I know that there's literally 0% of finding the bike back, but I still had some little hope, so I reported to the police about the bike theft. I didn't check the serial number of the bike yet as it was too fast before the theft happened.

If anyone happened to see this bike somewhere on the street or on Facebook marketplace, could you please contact me 😭 I'm afraid that I would be stolen again if I bought a new bike, and I cannot afford to buy a new one after spending a good amount on the earlier stolen one 😔

Thank you so much 🧎‍♀️

Reviews on student housing options

Hello!

I'm coming to Uppsala this autumn for my master's degree in Biopharmaceuticals, so I applied to several student housing options available.

I received 2 offers from Sernander väg 7 and 9 for a 19m2 corridor room, and 1 option in Eklundshovsvägen for a room with shared bathrooms and WCs with 5 other rooms. I read on some threads that the corridor rooms in Flogsta are in quite a rundown condition and noisy sometimes, and I'm a little bit worried about the tidiness when sharing the same kitchen with 11 other people 😅

I would love to hear some reviews and personal experiences on these housing locations, like the room condition, community, and transportation convenience. I'm wondering if these rooms would have separate small fridge in each room (like in where I studied in Finland, a corridor room with shared kitchen would have a fridge).

Thank you very much 😊

Apply for housing from student nations

Hello! I'm starting my Master's study this autumn semester, and I'm looking for different housing options in Uppsala. I read from some threads about housing from student nations, so I went on nationsgardarba website and register for an account, as well as register my interest for some rooms and apartments that are open for application until today. Some of the apartments I registered my interest for are from V-Dala, Norrland, and Östgöta.

However, I read from the application rules that I have to have membership from each of those nations to be considered for housing, and some nations have exceptions for new students to apply without memberships, but not V-Dala and Östgöta. So I'm wondering that, if I clicked "I want to activate subscription" in this page, does it mean I'm eligible for housing queue from V-Dala, for example? If not, what should I do? I'm coming to Uppsala in mid Autumn so I might not be able to come to the nations to register onsite before that.

Thank you so much!
