Can astigmatism actually get better?? Mine dropped by half in 3 years and I'm confused

Can astigmatism actually get better?? Mine dropped by half in 3 years and I'm confused

So I just compared my old and new glasses prescriptions and something weird happened. Hoping someone can explain this to me because google isn't helping lol.

3 years ago (I was 16):

  • Right eye: -0.75 sphere, -1.5 cylinder
  • Left eye: -1.0 sphere, -1.5 cylinder

Now (I'm 19):

  • Right eye: -1.5 sphere, -1.0 cylinder
  • Left eye: -1.5 sphere, -0.75 cylinder

Same clinic both times btw, not comparing two different places.

My nearsightedness (sphere) went up, which I get, that's pretty normal for my age. But the astigmatism part (cylinder) literally cut in half on BOTH eyes?? Like symmetrically? That seems like a weird coincidence to just be random chance.

Is this actually a thing that happens as your eyes finish developing in your late teens/early 20s? Or is it more likely one of the two measurements was just off (like maybe no dilating drops one of the times, or equipment wasn't calibrated right, idk)?

Not trying to self diagnose or anything, just genuinely curious if anyone else has seen their astigmatism go down like this, or if I should be side-eyeing one of these prescriptions. Planning to get a third opinion somewhere else just to be sure but wanted to ask here first.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Another important addition. I was tested with cycloplegia back then, but now without it.
