New Surfans F20 v3.5 Completely Ignoring update.upt File
I am trying to manually install Rockbox on a Surfans F20 that came with factory firmware 3.5. I read on the official forum that someone was able to install it on this exact setup with the hw4-erosq_2024.upt bootloader file and a daily build from July 2026.
I have used a reliable Samsung SD card, formatted it to an MBR partition with 32K cluster size, made sure that the .rockbox folder was sitting in the root directory, and checked to make sure that the bootloader file was named exactly update.upt and didn't have a double extension.
While doing these things connected to a power source and going to System Settings>Firmware Update, the player just boots up like normal without any error messages as if the file isn't even there. I've tried the button combination to force the recovery boot too but this gives the same result.
Since someone else was able to get this combination to work, does anyone know if there is something else I might be missing? I am new to manual installation
