Nervy, excited and intimidated: A transfer student's first semester

Hey folks,

I (21M) recently graduated with my A.S. in MechE and am soon to start my first semester at Mines this fall.

It feels like a fairly big change given that I lived in NYC all my life ( and did my A.S. in the city). I am pretty hyped to start classes (major is MechE btw), but definitely still trying to cautions and prepared. I was wondering if there are any current or past students that could give me some basic dos and don'ts for new students at mines?

I've heard it is a hard school with a high academic ceiling, so perhaps some basic advice on navigating some of the academic nuances of mines would be helpful--especially regarding core physics and math concepts I should refresh myself on before classes officially start.

Also, I'm just looking for folks to shoot the shit and socialize with. I am a fairly introverted dude by nature and my community college didn't help because it was a commuter school, so I'm trying to make up for that and put myself out there.

A bit about me: I like playing PC games (right now a lot of street fighter 6 with my boi ken), messing around with 3D printing, designing in CAD (though I am still ass), reading (LOTR as of recent), doing personal engineering projects and want to get more into hiking and outdoor activities.

Thanks for taking a read. Drop a comment or feel free to DM me.
