Bushfire season Australia
It’s coming up to bushfire season here in Australia and this years looking like a doozy.
I, my kids and husband all live in a bushfire prone area and our small town has been overrun a few times in the past.
Prior to this year I could evacuate and put in place a bushfire plan, but Feb ‘26 saw me crash into very severe and bed bound, no upright tolerance, no sensory tolerance - you get the idea.
I cannot be moved.
So this year I will have to stay in my unit while my hubby and kids evacuate.
For those who’ve been or are in a similar situation, anything I can do to mitigate the risks? Hubby is emailing the CFA (he’s a local brigade member and a firefighter himself) to let them know - not for protection, that’s unfair and unrealistic, but if the town is overcome the they at least know to look for remains. We’re talking about sprinklers and a generator but that’s outside of budget atm.
Anything I should think of, or anyone I could contact for more info?
Thanks!
