[Waves] Passing of light and propogation through multiple points.

\

Hello,

I'm 17,studying science,

Today our professor started a new topic light. He told that light rays travel in form of waves and that evry point through which the rays are passing becomes a new propogation point and propgates light in all

directions.

For which he gave an example-

In a completely dark room if a small hole is made in the door and a candle is kept at some distance in an inappropriate angle that it cant ve seen through the hole,

after certain time we can observe and identify things at some extent in the room as the light waves from the candle enter and propgate within the room.

I m able to justify mysleft how evry point becomes a propogation point, but it brought another quetion,

If evry point starts propgating light in all directions then, the points in the path of the propgated light must do the same and the points in that path... and so on..

And intensity of light should go on decreasing and there should be a point after which it should be insignificant

As their is no energy source. So is it that even light cant travel infinite distance,it is infinite for us humans, but beyond a point even light cant travel.

It may be completely rubbish 😭😭

Pl correct and explain me.
